Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth Saga

If you like The Expanse, then you probably would like the Commonwealth saga. It's admittedly slower paced, but Hamilton creates an awesome galactic human civilization, lays down the worldbuilding of how they expand into the galaxy, how society has changed thanks to wormhole technology and rejuvination... and what happens when they encounter a civilization that is alien beyond their understanding.
