Technically, isn't continuing to attack after claiming you surrender a warcrime?
NBRI
What if it's a false surrender? Or is that also a war crime?(Hint: I don't know the answer to any of these.)

Amazing programming... so humanlike. Shame about the potato hacked together box. This deserves to be in a beautiful piece of craftmanship

I need one of these which is programmed to break the damn switch off on the last one.

Oh it’s a French box
Mikae84
Not really it fighted back and gave some more after surrending too.
Turalisj
You mean like the French Resistance?
That's about the only similarity their defence was pretty much useless enemy just invated from another direction forcing them to surrender.
netharia
Their defense was useless primarily because half of the Army brass were in agreement with the Germans and stalled anything on the Belgian
border.

Pretty cool. I think his skill set is slanted more towards electronics than wood working though.
Now I need to build one for my daughter. Is this what they mean by raspberry pi?
AnythingMuchShorter
Use a psoc Dev board and you can put ranged capacitive sensing in and around the switch. Make it react to people getting close to the switch

An Arduino might be better for this purpose, a raspberry pi is more for home automation/IoT stuff imo
heytheretaylor
You could use a raspberry pi! Or an arduino for that matter. From there you connect some servo motors and a toggle, and put them in a box ?
That's cool, I'm gonna look into that. Thx!
CaptainClarification
Yeah I could totally do that thing you just said!
[deleted]
I've never heard of Arduino, I messed around with raspberry pi seemingly a long time ago, I should get back into this!
Arduinos are microcontrollers vs a whole computer in a pi. So you can’t browse the web on an arduino but they do have a bunch of GPIO ports
pdp1
It’s my servo motors and toggle in a box! Servo motors and a toggle in a box, yeahhhhh...
Quaxx
A raspberry is a bit overpowered for this matter, like pulling a tooth wit a truck. A simple processor like an Arduino is sufficient.
OnePostCloserToAHappierLIfe
Well, while this IS true, you could also program a portable computer into the PI and have a mini adapter built in.
Yeah, a couple of people have mentioned Arduino, I'll look into it. I'm trying to inspire her to learn to code, but I don't code myself.. /1
So maybe we can learn together /2
UnconvincingRussianTroll
TinkerCAD circuits has a full Arduino emulator so you can play with the "hardware" for free, including code and writing examples
Mkkari
For basic kind of thing this can be done with 555 chip
SepiaSkies
Not with all the sassy subroutines, no.

As long as it’s not a 666 chip.

merelyadequategooglymoogly
Are you saying *just* a 555? Seems like there's more to this than just timing (but I'm a software guy so I tend to think in terms of code).
Just this thing as basic as it could be. Switch turned on -> hand turns it off. Not with various modes. Pi or Arduino for that.
craque
in that case you could just skip the 555 and use some kind of switch config with h bridge
FyreFaux
Nah there is more to it, particularly with the different "reactions" when the switch gets pulled

Thanks! The code actually looked very simple (I'm a data analyst), but have yet to look into actual Pi/Arduino projects. It's on the list!
