I grew up 50 feet from a beach facing Long Island Sound. Over the years there were plenty of storms, but Hurricane Gloria in 1985 was one of the worst. A college kid across the street took his surfboard out and headed to the water. My dad tried to to talk him out of it. The surfboard was found a few days later about 20 miles up the coast. The kid is still missing.
there are plenty of stories of people getting impaled, decapitated and crushed by shit during storms. and yet still there are people who do this kind of stuff. darwin would be shaking his head.
