These are so awesome!!! Sadly, when I see posts with amazing "my first time doing x", my first thought is: "They're lying. They can't be THAT good the first time around." Then I remember my first paper. My teacher accused me of fraud. I was devastated. I had put so much effort into it and enjoyed researching and writing a lot. She wanted me to do an extra exam to prove I understood what I had written. "Luckily" she was too lazy to go through with it. Sadly, I never got to prove her wrong though.

Well done, they look amazing! And I love the style of it, I find most quilts I see a bit too old fashioned for my taste, even though they are technically very advanced. I also recently discovered a lot of content about quilts that made me overly ambitious in my desire to make one, and now your post made the impossible standard I set to myself even higher. Oh well, time to spend a lot of money on fabric and tools I guess

I have heard that for beginning amateur telescope makers, the fastest way to polish your first 6 inch mirror is to first polish your first 4 inch mirror and only then start on the 6 inch. I suspect something similar applies here.

I’ve made a few quilts, and I can say, damn this is fan-tas-TIC! Choosing that pattern, a bunch of triangles isn’t easy, but also choosing bright colors that are not normally seen together really cranks this up to 11! Well done!

My mom has been a quilter for like 25 years and also has a longarm quilting business, so I have seen a LOT of quilts. You guys did a great job on your first quilts! A lot of people go with way simpler projects, like flying geese or log cabins, but you guys really went for it. And they came out beautifully! Did you do the quilting yourself too?

I did not. I went to a local quilt shop and had them quilt it for me. Unfortunately, there was no way I was going to be able to hand quilt it in time and buying a long arm quilting machine seemed a bit excessive for my first quilt.
