I’ve been stuck at home for almost 3 weeks straight. Winter break started, then I got sick, then it snowed and school got canceled for a week straight because apparently the snow plow drivers just kinda gave up this time? Feels like society is collapsing but it’s probably fine.
I probably need floor time but I’ve been literally doing nothing for 3 weeks and I am LOSING MY MIND.
Why is this true? Can we move on please?
I did get my cat a wheel (video at the end of this dump). He’s actually been doing really well with training since he’s super food motivated. We got the wheel on Tuesday? I think? And I’ve been doing short 5-10min training sessions with him a few times a day. This morning he got on the wheel and walked all by himself!
I think my meds are off, so that’ll be fun to figure out with my psychiatrist this week. More frequent anxiety, headaches, brain fog, lack of motivation and sleep… it’s going great.
See above. Hurray!
So this is where I’m at. And I hate it, because I want to be able to find joy and enjoy life but I’m so so tired of all of it right now.
I should drink some water. I’ve been working on drinking less alcohol and honestly I haven’t really WANTED any, which has been nice. But I also don’t drink enough water and that would probably solve a lot of problems.
This just made me laugh because it’s so dumb.
I’ll probably also do some cleaning today, but the house is honestly pretty clean already.
I had a massage yesterday, and the therapist always sounds so concerned when she has to do really deep pressure but internally I’m like “no you don’t understand, I need to be run through a laundry press.”
I don’t want to do a thesis but I do want a doctorate. Eventually. Maybe. I’ll probably just do an ed specialist degree instead.

TBH, treating my mental illness like a separate person who is a lying dick, kinda helps me deal with it.

#18 the local bagboy at my grocery store noted that he likes that every time I come in, no matter what else I buy I get a sugar free Red Bull. Time to quit…not sure shopping there or Red Bull. Time will tell

#24 you can't even do that on Google anymore, they made it practically unusable.

Seriously. It’s ridiculous how often I get straight up FURIOUS at Google anymore. I’m pretty good at finding the right search terms but the whole thing is garbage now.

#48 Why can't Americans imagine this happening anywhere else?
I doubt there are many family gatherings all over the world that don't end like that.
It isn't solely American, let alone a specific part of American.
Somnophobe
No one but you said that.
The post only said that it is this way specifically in the Midwest, not that it’s unique to the Midwest exclusively in all the world and in all of history.
Quit making things up to be mad about; there’s more than enough things to be mad about that actually exist.
rjmmbc
It’s mostly that in the US, this is a DISTINCTLY midwestern thing. Not saying it doesn’t happen anywhere else, just that here it’s unique to the Midwest.

I was a gifted kid in the 90s/early 2000s and it was the same… I don’t know that it’s gotten much better in practice now. I have kids in my class who are probably candidates for the gifted program and DEFINITELY not neurotypical, but likely won’t get diagnosed.
