Yeah, it sure is horrible that new tools are being developed to help people.

Is it another monthly subscription charge? Because I want another subscription.

They're monetizing loneliness.

That's fine, but baking attachment issues into your healthy socialization prevention device is actively cruel

Why not, Black Mirror was pretty popular.

They literally had a whole episode about this specifically.

It all depends on if the person in question is capable of learning the reciprocity necessary for a real relationship (in which case, the virtual SO is going to keep them stunted) or if the person is so insufferable that they're a lost cause and should just be removed from the dating pool forever

As long as you realize you're essentially talking to a mirror, that's okay. If you start to get investrd emotionally, that's where the troubles begin. (I.e., immediately.)

Check Joseph Weitenbaum's experiences with Eliza for more on this. A quick primer: https://newrepublic.com/article/181189/inventor-chatbot-tried-warn-us-ai-joseph-weizenbaum-computer-power-human-reason

Yeah, but it's like hugging a plushie. There's no-one really there but yourself. Realizing that you are actually drawing from within may help you recover.

Oh, I am not judging. I just think that self-awareness is good for the psyche, whereas delusions are dangerous.

(I believe that current events support my argument.)
