So, it's a grilled cheese burger?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Decent

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My folks always made smash burgers by smashing the hamburger in tinfoil before placing on the skillet. You get a juicier burger &still cripsy

Tuna melts with tomato are better ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like grilled cheese with tomato, and simple tuna salad w or wo tomato, but I’m not a tuna melt fan.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Close. Put some cheese in the pan w/ the butter and toast it into the bread... extra crispy cheesy bread is the coup de grace

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh oh oh it’s magic, you knooow~

In my house we called this a Welfare Burger

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now do a tuna melt. On sour dough. With sauteed onions.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I don't like tuna melts but I don't like that you go downvoted for this comment even more, because yours sounds good actually.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh no worries on that, random downvotes happen. Is it the mayonnaise, the fish, or the other miscellaneous thrown in that tends to do it?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Warm tuna. I’ll do tuna sandwich any time, but just... not warmed up.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seeded rye (of course), grilled onions in butter and garlic, deli counter American (it’s better), and thick burger patties.

5 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 5

Bacon always helps satisfy your daily pork and salt consumption.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

A medium dark rye is even better.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's hard for me to get good rye bread where I'm at for some reason. All I really have available most of the time are the national bLands.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried garlic bread as the bun?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can and I have garlic buttered the bread but this time the grilled onions were heavily garlic'd up so it wasn't really necessary.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know I'll get hit for that, but this works quite well with Egg-Mozzarella waffles ("chaffles") for people that don't/can't eat bread

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its not *quite* as good, but sometimes good enough

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No hits here, make it work for your needs and enjoy, I say.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you put sweet pickles/gherkin slices on them? (I'm not sure what you call them there, I'm not from the US)

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You sure can, or sweet relish, etc. That’s getting down to ‘taste in condiments’ and people should make it their own.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks . You've inspired me. I haven't cooked anything like this in ages. I'm going to cook them for us later this week

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can do the patties and onions (separate) ahead of time and then just warm them up when it’s time, same pan.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry, you lost me on the American cheese. Cheddar. Swiss if you want some modest flair. Bleu if you want a flavor punch.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

Mine from the other night. I have a gluten allergy and am lactose intolerant but it was worth it ? /a/VsgUuDB

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Havarti, and brown mustard

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Deli American is actually a very good burger cheese and has absolutely nothing to do with the "cheese product" in wrappers.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like them with swiss of course, but deli American is what I had and it was great. (from the deli it's actually CHEESE, not 'product'.)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

American cheese is sometimes appropriate

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If there is literally no other cheese I can use, maybe. Only time I'd choose American over another cheese is if Velveeta is the other option

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I've no idea what Velveeta is, but it sounds like a pubic hair removal product.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You could probably use it for that. Just smear on, let it dry, then yank.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Frisbeeing it into the unsuspecting face of a relative or pet for youtube money?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those look good. I want them.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So easy. You could do this! I even cook patties and onions ahead of time to make this part faster.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. I wasn't saying it looked difficult, just good, and that I want them.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No I got that, I was just encouraging you!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I appreciate the thought.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2) I wasn't paying close attention though. You used a traditional rye with fennel. Do not want. : (

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3) Now, a marbled rye on the other hand, fennel-free...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TIL that somewhere, some other place, caraway seeds are called fennel.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did but you can use seedless or sourdough or pumpernickel or heck, cinnamon raisin swirl if that does it for you. (though I... wouldn't.)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cinnamon raisin swirl sounds interesting just because it sounds terrible.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’ve never had one... is it like a burger but on rye instead of a bun?

5 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

Think "Rubin sandwich"

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

In Australia, we just call it a burger no matter what bread vehicle it's on.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Usually burger, swiss cheese and grilled onions. Heaven on rye.

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

don't forget the sauerkraut

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

SACRILIGE!!!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sorry, i was thinking of a reuben. though i do have a recipe tor a turkey-reuben patty melt that's pretty delicious.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll give you a pass then. But I like cole slaw on a reuben, so I guess that's sacrilige too!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like mine with thick "Texas" toast, grilled onions, Russian or Thousand Island dressing and Jalapenos. Whataburger does a fine rendition!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I prefer sliced sour dough bread.

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

A fine variation.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Aka: patty melt

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It's Actually Really GOOD..... you can make one, & one poster said....add pickles!!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Its a burger but worse.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Essentially. It’s like, what if grilled cheese, but grown up and meat. Rye and grilled onions are ‘traditional’ and really work well.

5 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 1

Add a layer of pickles

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

Coleslaw might be good on there too.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

This is a flat, yummy burger.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Sauteed onion and mushroom now

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Toss some green peppers in there and you've got a cheesesteak.
