I keep hearing from "concerned parents" that we can't teach our children that slavery was bad. Why would any white parent worry that their children would hate themselves for being white if they are taught that white people owned slaves?

Did it ever occur to racist white parents that their children could identify with the abolitionists instead of the slavers?
