I offer up my respect for your particular culinary choices, but I don’t understand the fascination with tamales. I’m from Cleveland, Ohio, but I’ve eaten tamales in San Antonio. I’ve had them on several occasions. Everybody is excited about them, but I don’t get the fascination. It seems to be cornmeal around a ground meat center that is then wrapped in cornhusks and steamed. It’s kind of bland. The first time I ate them, I did not remove the corn husk until after the first bite, lol.

First off, if they used any sort of ground meat they deserve jail time and need to write you a formal letter of apology.
Secondly, admittedly there will be varying amounts of masa, which is different from cornmeal. That has soaked up goodness and will be a complimentary flavor to the salsa with rice & beans.
Third, a word to the wise, if you ever eat a true tamale for the first time be careful. The black olive in the center will still have the pit in it. I don't know why. Tradition I guess.
