#2 I have a bit of lactose intolerance so that amount of ice cream will probably do some heavy damage to me at minimum. But at least I’ll die happy. Yes, I know it probably meant for more than 1 person but I👏DON’T👏SHARE👏ICE👏CREAM!

#12 I had to check just out of curiosity. Yes, ALDI really is selling a 12oz box of 4 individual ice cubes for $5

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They are specialty ice cubes tho. I would buy these if I was doing a cocktail party or something. Making super clear large ice cubes isn't as easy as is sounds.

#24 Not dad but wife. Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Start doing Theresa's quests around 2am. They talk, they flirt, they run to the barn to get busy. Fade out? No, full boink sesh. Wife walks in during the TWENTY SECOND CUTSCENE, whistles appreciatively and leaves to give me privacy at the obviously-porn game I'm playing.

150+ hours of playtime. No other nudity, tasteful fade-to-black on the only other intimate scene. She didn't care, but I NEEDED her to understand the perfect embarrassing timing.

I went like a week with some severe sleep deprivation, until I finally hallucinated at work. Weird experience. Saw the Hat Man. But that itself was super weird, because it wasn't a scary thing at all.

Basically, have you ever gone into an employee only area someplace, and accidentally ran into an actual employee there? That weird instance of, "um...you're not supposed to be here"

That was me with the Hat Man. Dude looked confused and unsure of why the hell I was looking at him suddenly.

#13 I mean the meat is cooked but why TF is that fat layer unrendered??? Did they refrigerate the damn thing before slicing?

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

I believe it is cheese and spinach stuffing.

This right here, those commenters don’t know what raw meat looks like.

When I make brisket, I cheat like a motherfucker: Sous vide for 36-48 hours at 155 degrees, refrigerate overnight, then smoke/bake for three hours at 300 to give it a nice bark. I had a friend who was livid with me for doing it the easy way. Didn’t stop him from eating it though

This is what the original meaning of, "money can't buy happiness" is supposed to mean. Dude is a trillionaire. World's first. Richest man in existence. And he's fucking miserable. He's got nothing. He spends money, hand over fist, in vain attempts at being liked and celebrated, and it never works. He'll never have that recognition and respect. No matter how much he earns. It's just all hollow as all hell.

#2 US McDonald's has an exclusive contract with the machine manufacturer. The manufacturer pays McDonald's to ensure that their franchise owners *only* use their service for repairs, which the franchise owners have to call and pay for because McDonald's mandates a working ice cream machine. The purpose of the machine is not to make ice cream, its purpose is to require repairs

mc flurry went to shit, it recently started to taste even more fat than milky, + the sizes continuely shrinked and don't even get flurred anymore for years. that was the only thing i still went to mc donalds, they actually had a reasonably good milk based ice.

3 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Capitalism breeds innovation" - this is an example of that innovation.

To be fair, take any flavor of corrupt government system, and someone gets the no bid contract from the country's leader and screws it up just as bad.

1 month ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 1

I also read somewhere that many times when they say the machine is broken, it actually isn't. It's just an easy excuse. One of my local gas stations bought a soft serve machine, and one of the employees says dealing with it is a nightmare. It needs to be fully cleaned every day, and it takes quite a while. And you need to sell a lot of it to make it worth it to even turn on for the day.

4 weeks ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's also barely ice cream. So much oil and thickeners, tastes like absolute shit. You don't notice as much if you're acclimated, I guess

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 6

There was a guy who made a small USB type device that would read the error codes and tell the user what it meant and the manufacturer sued them to stop stores from using it.

It didn't fix anything it just told people what was wrong but they couldn't allow that cause then the stores might figure out how to fix it themselves or work around the error codes.

1 month ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 0

They maker of the device eventually won the suit, as I understand it, but I dunno what came of it.

1 month ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Half the time they are also working fine, but the required frequent cleaning process is huge pain in the dick and most locations are chronically understaffed.

1 month ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The cleaning cycle is four hours. The machine self-cleans. Its usually set to self clean overnight. The code is set yo make the machine 'break' at the end of the cycle.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I have never heard of it being automatic, not saying yer wrong tho. Most descriptions, esp in articles concerning the lawsuit for the add-on device that popped up described it as labor-intensive.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If its something that you can leave running overnight its not labor intensive.
Taylor C602 uses an overnight self-cleaning heat treatment cycle.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Came here to say just this. Add on the possibility of looser food safety regulations from a region still caught using lead based paint on kids' toys from time to time, and I suspect they just aren't bothering to clean the machines. 🤢

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

isnt that how most companies work? Like doesn't every store with a pepsi machine only get repairs done by Pepsi? But the machines still work all the same.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, most soda dispensers are generic and can be serviced by different maintenance companies. The syrup just comes in bags you swap out. The biggest exception is Coke at McDonald's. They have an entire different machine for just regular and diet Coke that gets regularly tuned by someone from Coca-Cola. The one at my store was locked and my manager said not even the owner had a key.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Probably because Pepsi *wants* you to get your Pepsi. But the ice cream machine company doesn't sell the ice cream, so they don't give a shit.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And McDonald's isn't an ice-cream company either, they sell burgers. McDonald's earns money by bring paid to install the machines, and the manufacturer earns money from the 'repair' fees.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which is amusing because iirc the history of the founder, he sold ice cream machines and blenders?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What advantage is this to McDonalds? It simply hurts their brand name.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

McDonald's earns more from the arrangement than they make selling ice-cream, and nobody goes to McDonald's for ice-cream. Its money. Its always the money.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

It could also be a lever to use against franchise owners for that reason: "Pay the repairman, you're making corpodaddy look bad!". A way of juicing franchise owners for cash, shrinking their share of the profits, etc.

4 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

The same company (Taylor) provides the machines to Dairy Queen and a load of other companies, and to McDonald's outside the US.
The other companies/countries do not have the same kickback+exclusive_repair arrangement going on, therefore there is no incentive for the company to rig the machines to need repairs. Its not even the machine itself, its the software.
Which is why only McDonald's has this 'problem' with their machines.
Its corruption all the way down.

1 month ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

Yea i remember reading that there was a community out there that figured out workarounds and custom software for franchises to fix their machine and McDonald's came back and explicitly banned it as part of their franchise agreement.

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yep. Which im turn led to court cases.

The issue is that the machine is rigged to 'break' at the completion of its cleaning cycle. The staff then have to either initiate a new 4 hour cleaning cycle which might 'break' the machine again or call Taylor which will send out a tech (costing the franchise owner $$$$) and the tech then plugs in a small device to reset the machine and 'fix' it.

If custom software is found on the machine then Taylor deems the machine to have been tampered with.

#4 Alright I'm going to be the one to say it, no one needs a great blue heron like this for self defence. Back in my day you'd keep a pelican taped to a baseball bat under your bed, and you were fine.

#40 for those that don’t know: diabetes can lead to dead nerves. This means you might not notice wounds on your feet, which can become necrotic.

1 month ago | Likes 178 Dislikes 1

Yup. I failed my poke test (the doc pokes your foot with a single nylon toothbrush bristle and you have to say if you can feel it) so I have to do nightly visual inspections now.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When I stub my toe I call it a spontaneous peripheral neuropathy check.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Was on Oxaliplatin (chemo) for a few months. It gives you peripheral neuropathy, particularly when it's cold. Still here though so chalking it up as a win.

4 weeks ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is this why foot amputation is so common in common in folks that require dialysis?

1 month ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

Yep. Peripheral nerves get damaged, but so do the blood vessels. So not only do you not notice the initial wound, but the healing is very poor and slow due to the damaged blood vessels. Then, chronic ulcers develop as the skin can’t regrow and heal properly. Infections develop as bacteria love sugar (higher in poorly controlled diabetes), and can become chronic, and often bury deeper than the skin and into the underlying bone (osteomyelitis). When it reaches the point of no return = amputation.

1 month ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

WELL… I know I don’t have diabetes yet cuz my foot is numb from a pinched nerve. Take that, Häagen-Dazs!

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

God forbid a doc boy have a little fun.

Now take a nice deep breath and count to ten...like those little grippers I know you're keeping hidden there....

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because if you have dead nerves, such that you won't notice wounds on your feet, you might not go to a podiatrist in the first place. So this dentist wants to check while you're there anyway.

1 month ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

This, AND my dentist does a moderate, non-invasive cancer screening on my nose, mouth, throat, and neck once a year. Let them help you!

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's different, if would be within their scope of practice. There's laws about scope, and I'm pretty sure feet don't fall under a dentist's.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

That's gotta be outside their scope of practice, though. Which opens them up to liability.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Hun, you are allowed to say no.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They aren't going to diagnose or treat diabetes, just offer referrals. Dentists are also now screening for DV, since they have opportunity to notice who is maybe getting hit in the face a lot and offer additional resources for help.
