At least mom tried to uderstand what it was to be mentally ill and why i am the way i am. Just wish i could have been kinder. If you love someone and want them in your life dont wait until its too late to tell them your feelings and or story. When all is said and done id rather know i tried my best than to think 'if only'.
I believe it's more of a "it's not your fault that your parents are disappointed. Stop blaming yourself and allowing yourself to be shamed for not meeting their bullshit expectations."

Suggested change from "You didn't disappoint your parents" to "your parents' disappointment doesn't matter." The second and third part can stay.
