If I had to get Smallpox, Malaria and Anthrax vaccinations, these kids can handle a seasonal flu shot 😈

Good to know there is some intelligence let in MILITARY INTELLIGENCE - even if it's not at the top!

As an Army medic, I administered hundreds of flu shots and nobody whined about it. (Well, okay, they did... but they got the shot anyway.) We all just considered it as part of the duty we signed up for: a necessary discomfort to protect ourselves, our battle buddies, and mission readiness.

Also, this is why we need trans people in the military: it's hard to be a little bitch about an injection when the soldier next to you has to jab themselves every week. :D

Golly geez who could have possibly imagined this outcome

"We don't have a problem with influenza in the military. They don't need flu shots." How many times is this going to happen over the next 30 months?

Flu in june? Those are the worst, when it's hot and you've got a fever...

After 3 major surgeries in 2 years my maga neighbor asked how I avoided any secondary illnesses and when I said "got my shots updated", she shook head and walked away. Guess who's not here anymore?!

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You get a shit ton of shots when you sign up. They used to not even change the syringe. If someone signs up not grasping that the military now owns them, the recruiter is a liar or they are an idiot or both.

fucking anti-vax dumbasses. Hundereds of years of scientific research isn't nullified by your fucking feelings.

If you aren't willing to "sacrifice" a bit of a sore arm for the guy in the foxhole next to you, are you going to depend on them sacrificing their life for you?

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well who couldve seen that coming?

Literally anyone and everyone with the most basic understanding of vaccines!!! You goddamn idiots

Now i am just a civilian manager working in an office but i have sent people home with just a runny nose and a mild cough (people who turn up to work even worse i don't even let sit down and start up the computer) and our work is not national security.

I can't force people to take vaccines like the military can but it boggles my mind that the 2nd highest civilian commander of the military doesn't think vaccines are a good thing and necessary to ensure troop readiness.

What's the funniest take? I'm sure someone is going to say a sick liberal purposefully infected the base.

The feckless drunk has to figure out what the military figured out 80 years ago

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Given his obsession with "warfighters" and total neglect of logistics in his public speeches, I doubt he's up to speed on what militaries figured out 2500 years ago.

What did we expect from the “if we stop testing, the numbers go down” crowd?

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Historically the single biggest killer in the military has been disease, because when you put a bunch of people together in the same spot, viruses and bacteria rampage like shit through a goose. The obsession in the military with order and cleanliness is because of that…. And vaccines are the same idea. It is egregiously stupid and downright deadly to ignore this. I mean, what’s new for this admin. But still.

One of the first Military to introduce mandatory Hygiene and Vaccination was the Continental Army under George Washington against small Pox.

During World War I, roughly *half* of all US casualties were from the swine flu that was spreading at the same time. Half. And that's *just* the flu, there were several other horrifying diseases also spreading throughout that war because of poor hygiene and poor medical care and everyone jammed together in trenches for months on end.

This is a real One Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest situation.

This whole decade is gonna be a sad, sorry cycle of breaking the thing that wasn't broken because and hopefully dragging it back to the status quo and calling it a fix, because the knuckle dragging "i want it different because freedom" crowd doesn't understand how functioning society works but demands control or they'll burn it down, which is all they know how to do when they have control anyway.

There've been a lot of Chesterton's Fences coming down with this administration.

Why are 'right wing men' so dumb

1 month ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Being dumb is often what made them right wing.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because they're subby little boys according to Hannah Arendt's banality of evil theory, or what you want to call it. They want to submit to the authority and unburden their conscience by following the decisions of "stronger" men, it's quite sad and pathetic really.

1 month ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

like time and time again they reject science and get proved wrong every time, they are dangerious

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If they were smart, they wouldn't be right-wing. You have to be dumb to be right-wing (and/or evil).

The Administration somehow blames Obama in 3... 2...

1 month ago | Likes 235 Dislikes 2

"Obama made our troops get vaccines which suppressed their natural immune system so they were more susceptible now!"

the.... the OBAMA FLU!

Of course not, fake news....

They'll blame Biden first for being sleepy

Barack HUSSEIN Obama, have you heard of him?!

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Someone should tell him no when he asks this.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Been great if they had done this before and prevent the spread, but hey, at least they learned the lesson.

…Oh, who am I kidding. They probably didn't learn shit.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good. They never should have stopped it. The fucking flu sucks. Nobody should be walking around with it, spreading it to everyone else, and everyone should have to get the fucking shot that helps prevent it.

1 month ago | Likes 140 Dislikes 1

...going to be honest here, they never really stopped.

That order came in April 2026. Mandated flu shots happen every year around October

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Semi-correct.
Since the April change, 60% of new recruits were availing themselves of the option to opt-out of the flu vaccine whe still getting the rest of the mandated vaccines upon induction.
I'm not sure how many people that is exactly that opted out, but it was enough to lead to 230 cases at one base, at last count.

Thankfully, this regrettable outbreak happened now to give reason to restore the mandate both before the October renewal and flu season.

Pure fucking incompetence. Seems to be a theme from this “administration”

1 month ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

especially the military, it`s a tactical suicide

1 month ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

Not tactical but strategical. A strategical Disaster like having 20% less troops due them beeing ill, may lead to a tactical problem, but the Problem is Strategical and the Minister of War(Defense) is there for leading with the Strategie for the Military.

didn`t armies use to catapult plague infected dead bodies as bioweapon to conquer cities in the middle ages? disease and supplies are like one of the first things you have to consider in warfare

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure I read the Mongols did this as part of their strategy. Imagine that. A drone that releases a bio-engineered Ebola.

If only there was some sort of protective face wear that was both cheap and effective at stopping the spread of airborne flu germs?

1 month ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

The membranes in your eyes are also a vector for infection, not just your airways

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That and some sort of vaccine.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't forget that during the covid lockdown an entire tracked strain of flu went extinct.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes! A nice side effect of the pandemic. Silver lining in every cloud

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't even need that if they had just vaccinated 'em.

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Depends on how you define "need" and how many prevalent/relevant strains of influenza are floating around.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really; the flu shot isn't very effective. It's great at reducing the spread of the disease overall but it's far from being 100% effective, IIRC. So flu shot AND a face mask is still a good idea.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(then again, no need for face masks if there aren't outbreaks, which maybe was your point)

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

yep, kinda was, but I guess I didn't make it. Need to work on the clarity of my messaging.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or maybe it was a me issue. I'm not the best at understanding stuff.
