@OP may have misunderstood the meaning of infamous.
Infamous has a small range of meanings, and none of them are ones that most people would care to be described with. It may mean "notoriously evil," "disgraceful," or "convicted of an offense bringing infamy" (infamy is "evil reputation brought about by something grossly criminal, shocking, or brutal").

In your defense, that term "infamous" is sometimes used humorously to mean "well-known" in a friendly sort of way, like calling your British friend "Oi, cunt!". But the dictionary publishers haven't officially recognized that, yet. By the way, I only have admiration for any speaker of the French language, which is infamous for its difficulty.
