As someone who spends her life in and around water
I am especially grateful for the Mitten's wetlands
Always a good adventure (blue spotted salamander)
Spending time in the mud and muck (chorus frog)
Meeting so many new friends
With so much to discover in each scoop
I truly am grateful
For my time messing around (spotted salamander)
And exploring
Looking for fairy shrimp
And red-backed salamanders
And just enjoying the peaceful calm

We's all snowy here, but World Wetlands Day doesn't celebrate itself

It's definitely wetlands day out here. Things have been saturated for months. Rains on top of ice on top of snow on top of rains.

Salamanders are indeed my favorite in the amphibian world. Finding the spotted was a fabulous dream, since those aren't so common unless searching at night, of course.

I don't know if you've ever been to Algonquin Park in Ontario, but you would love it so much. It's pretty serious camping, like you need a bear plan and a moose plan and you canoe out to your site. Or even cottage country like Haliburton northeast of Toronto. If you ever get the chance, go. There are salamanders everywhere, and little ring neck snakes, it's just a really beautiful place.

Sounds salmand-sational! Tho if I ever see a moose, I would be dead because I would insist on hugging it. That's my moose plan. My children already know this is how I will die when I turn 102

Moose...do not care for hugs lol It's unlikely you'd see moose in Algonquin although last time I was there we saw two... And once a moose got stuck in my aunt's (empty at the time) swimming pool and she couldn't leave for work. Oh the moosemanity lol

I am pretty convinced I can befriend the moose and it will want to come with me and live in my forest.
