Lemons. Local ones..hand for scale. Sorry no banana. Also I do not have micro hands

Pompei

A whole city covered in ashes 3k ya

Huge beyond belief

So complex and well preserved

Just one of the many roads

This city used to have 20k citizens

Everything suddenly stopped

Paintings on walls are still there and tell so much

People caught by the ashes

This is scary

Whole villas

These were spas

This is a warning about the guard dog

You could walk hours and hours here

Three thousand years and still it's better than my place

An original mosaic. there's so many

An open year theater from 3k ya

Inside one of the many houses

Amazing

Fried pizza

This one too. A traditional pizza from Naples

Strolling by the seaside on a lazy afternoon

That's the Vesuvio, the vulcano that destroyed Pompei

Had a spritz there

#3 It was less than 2,000 years ago, not 3,000. 1,945 years ago to be exact. August 24, 79 CE.

Check out the 2 letters of Pliny the Younger.

Why? They don't change the date. They are fascinating and the fate of his uncle is heartbreaking, but he died 1,941 years ago, not 3,000.
