For it to be there, there needs to be a LED underneath. No way that is "an accident", so I bet that yes, it is supposed to be there.
Never meant it could be an accident, my old roommate was just a creep so I wanted to make sure its normal and not from him lol
haha fair enough - it does look a bit out of place. But I doubt there is room underneath to install a pinhole camera lol

Well, it's on a tiny board, attached to the speaker, that also houses a CCD for light sensing. Not sure why the LED is lit.
