A girl in college discovered that I had a button that does this on the back of my head and thought it was hilarious to press it when I was mid-sentence.
Sedation is better. "Clipnosis" is actually very stressful to the cat itself. It becomes immobilized, but it is still very stressed out. Source - I am a vet. Use chemical restraint as that actually calms the cat.
Even better, get them used to nail clipping if at all possible. Mine struggle a bit to start, but give in to the inevitable with a bit of light squishing and get treats afterwards.
My college roommates actually discovered that if they poke me between the eye brows, it kind of zonks me, and if they hold there, I can fall completely limp. Super weird, and I probably could have fought the effect if I ever tried, but it was definitely a real thing cause they would catch me off guard with it sometimes.
Funny enough, I’m not into restraints, and not into choking (dated a choker), I just really love naps and cuddles, and that’s kind of like an aggressive cuddle followed by a nap.
It's literally no more harmful than grabbing your friend and picking them up to prevent them from going somewhere for a few seconds. Annoying, maybe. Could you POSSIBLY hold them too hard and MAYBE off chance hurt their ribs for a few seconds, god forbid? Sure. But seriously, lmao. The kitten is entirely fine. Vets do this, too.

This is an autonormical response. Derived from exostential reaction in the feline monargomy. Turbo encabulator.

Once applied to the feline, side-fumbling is effectively prevented.

MutatedHorse
Do not do this, please. It is unnecessary and can be too tight on their small necks. Stop using your pets as toys.
Hextant
This is over the cats entire shoulders ... it's fine.
MutatedHorse
Point still stands. Don't use your pets as toys for internet points.
