Haven't seen anything about the Protests in Bosnia on here. People should know about this!

Protests began with small rallies on February 5th, and quickly grew into large anti-government protests sparking major civil unrest and conflict with riot police.

With 1/5 Bosnia's living under the poverty line, and an estimated 550,000 people unemployed, Bosnian's have cited unemployment and a lack of a social safety net as some of their major reasons for protesting.

Other major reasons for the protest include massive economic inequality, government corruption, and general dissatisfaction with the government.

Naturally this has led to conflict with police forces. With over 150 people so far being injured by the use of tear gas, stun grenades and water cannons among other things. Many other protestors have been arrested.

The protestors on their part have been throwing rocks at riot police as well as set some buildings on fire.

Protestors have also blocked major intersections and highways, and also set cars on fire as they demand that their federalist government step down to make way for a technocratic one.

One of the major causes of the high unemployment is Bosnia (44%) was the privatization of 4 major state-owned companies, leading to those companies selling their assets and filing for bankruptcy.

Because of all the workers who lost their jobs to this, many protestors are demanding the re-nationalization of the companies.

Many reporters are calling this the "Bosnian Spring".

Despite all the chaos however, many of the protestors have remained peaceful and non-violent as they fight for their future.
