If ensuring that no single person ever goes hungry results in a couple of people making money they don't deserve, I am STILL going to support it. Sadly the conservative mindset is such that the purpose of the law is not justice but punishment. A thousand innocent men going punished to ensure one guilty man doesn't escape punishment just means the system is working overtime, not that the system is broken, in their minds.
Especially as they feel that the punishment system acts as a discouragement to crime; those thousand innocent punished people serve a purpose, in their mind, rather than being a travesty of injustice.

The techs that work for me make crazy money, will get mad if I ask them to do one thing 7 hours into our shift, and actively slow things down while complaining (I ask them to unplug two cables and plug them back in, they will do it wrong, ask why, say they'll do it then just not move, or any number of other fun stuff) and I'm 100% pro union. People being represented is essential.

For $100 billion, you could pay a hundred thousand individuals 100K per year for that same decade just to sit on their arse, and it would still be better for the economy because most of that money would be spent.

The notion that unions protect people not doing their job is wild to me - I'm in a country with a fairly good Union rights and a fair few national level ones that have been around in one form or another for a century or so and even then the abusers don't last long. That's the thing about a union - it works both ways and if you're fucking the union over it won't end well for you.

Also there is a huge diffrence between 10.000 on the lower end scamming the system for a extra 500-1000 usd a month (total 5-10 million) vs 10 at the top scamming it for 2 million each a month (or about 20 milion... and thats a lower estimate)
