I sometimes wonder if this a lost cat who found a dad-shaped person who wears the same deoderant so seems familiar enough

When I went to the SPCA to adopt, they had a couple cats separated from the others due to some "social" issues, and I went into the cage to check them out. Without warning, this 18-lbs orange monster launched himself up onto my shoulders and started rubbing all over my head and neck, and I was like... okay, I guess he chose me.

When I completed the adoption process, the staff admitted: "He actually does that to everyone, he's a huge slut." No regrets, he was the best cat ever!

A cat that used to people is not a stray. They jacked someone’s pet

Cute video. I'm a dumb dumb. I've been on this site for over a decade and just realized the avatar you, and many others have, is a fork. Not a dirty used condom.

It was an avatar made in honor of the most downvoted comment on this website made by a User (who is still hanging around!) that goes by @fartharder WAYYYYY back in 2011. Please make the sacred pilgrimage to the comment and downvote it, but then be sure that you upvote a few other of the User's comments to equal out your Imgur karma! That was @fartharder !? Holy shit hell! I know the legend. I was there 3000 years ago. It makes so much sense now. Fork, not dirty condom. Thank you imgurian friend. Going to downvote now!

This happened to my wife and I and, like good people, we took it to the shelter. No chip. They took a picture and posted it on a lost and found page and the owners claimed it. The cat was *not* in good shape. Worst day of my life was surrendering that cat. Doing the right thing sometimes tears a hole in your heart.

Had a similar experience. Adult cat, undesexed, no microchip, and it really bad shape. Nobody came forward, but I would have required them to provide a name he answered to before handing him over. If a cat doesn't have a microchip, doesn't have a name they will come to when hungry then they weren't loved, imo.

Unfortunately these people has posted a "lost cat" picture a full 24 hours after we found him. The area we found him was close enough to their house and the picture was spot on. It was a definite match. I still regret doing the right thing.

"My wife and me"*

"My Wife and I"* To figure out which one it is, take out the other person. "I, like a good person-" vs "Me, like a good person-"

The rule is correct, but the analysis is not. Original comment substituted a comma for a period, making a compound sentence confusing. "Like good people, ...", should've been the next sentence.

And to be clear, it wasn't in bad shape because it had been a stray for a while. It was poorly kept. The coat was so thick and matted that the shelter shaved it off for us for free. He was old and he was frail. He was an outdoor cat and should not have been an outdoor cat and not just because cats shouldn't be outdoor cats. His owners told animal control he was old and got confused a lot so he couldn't find his way home.

This is horrible! My cat is old and is going through some changes that I worry are dimensia.

I'm pretty sure he got lost on the way to my bedroom recently. I found him sleeping in the hall and he jumped up in excitement when he saw me like he had been lost and alone for years.

Yeah, they said he got lost sometimes because he was showing signs of dementia. Great opportunity to stop letting him go outside in my opinion. And they said he wasn't clean because he gave the groomers a really hard time but the local animal shelter who checked for the chip gave him a shave for free. He was like an armadillo, all his fur had matted into one solid outer shell. It was heartbreaking.

Yeah this is not ok. My 15 year old baby has invisible fence, so he can't leave the yard. If he gets so confused that the invisible fence doesn't work, we will stop letting him out completely. We get notified if he leaves the yard and it has been years.

My other, even older, baby is in palliative care and can't clean herself anymore, so she gets daily brushing and lanolin wipes to keep her clean and sleek. I know it is important to her. This is how you take care of your elders!

Cats and dogs don't become a burden, they simply require more care as their life moves on. That's why I currently have to carry my 16 year old dog in and out of the house for her yard time. It's not a burden. She's my dog.
