My armoury needs a deep clean and general reorganisation. Decided to start with arms, my 1st ever sword was the right choice. Done a near mirror polish all by "hand"!
All I needed was sandpaper with 120, 180, 240, 320, 400, 600, 1k, 1.5k, 2k, 3k grit, tons of cutting oil, loads of jewellers rouge and a ton of time. Took 3 hours to go from utterly dull and rust stained to this beauty!
My hands ache a bit after holding my angle grinder for that long time. Worth it!
Next to impossible to capture the true shine of the blade.
If my sanity goes bye bye, I'm so gonna try to polish my full paladin armor to this finish. Probably takes ages but damn would it look badass on a market, LARP, or con!
The guard still takes some polishing, the blade also still shows some missed spots. Still utterly happy with the result!
It may sound very srupid, but this sword means everything for me.

Thanks! The stand is made from a birch board with fir discs. My 1st ever woodworking job in my apprenticeship.

Never would downvote swords. Mine means a lot to me, not everything it is still just a sword.
