We survived July 29th! It's touch and go every year

So let's talk about my period that is currently on day 16 with no signs of slowing down

I ruined so many pairs of pants and one chair last week

I'm going to call my OB tomorrow, but I'm curious what insight other ladies might have. I suspect it is hormonal from changes in breast feeding, but I'm beginning to wonder about polyps or fibroids due to the abnormal heaviness.

omg I was just going through a very similar hell yesterday I had to call into work I was in so much pain, I feel for you. confounded uterus.

Oof..me, 35, never preggo. Periods are getting weird. Spotty. I'm too young for that shot. It's annoying abd unpredictable

I have an IUD and just got a surprise period. They suck. I had super heavy & long bleeding. It was endometriosis.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#10 did this to my ex, she claimed to hate it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hormonal changes from breastfeeding will not cause a long period. Time to call your gyno.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would that make your pussy popping? Jokes aside, inform your doctor of any other issues you had proceeding with the heavy flow (like fevers or cramping without auntie flow). Hope things work out and it's just hormones.

I did 120 days once (light for 3 weeks, then heavy for 1, repeat). Took a d&c to stop it. PCOS was known. Thankfully,2 biopsies were both negative. They figured out after the d&c that there is ONE bc that has the right mix of hormones for me. Been taking it and sitting pretty ever since. Good luck!

being a trans girl and not realizing I get periods too had me in therapists office like "I don't know it's just like this cyclical depression where I just get so sad like every three weeks".

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had this once. Was PCOS. Birth control stopped it.

@OP Not a lady, but my partner had the same issues when she was younger, just a few years after she started getting them. Long lasting, painful, sporadic with no real cycle, extremely heavy. OB put her on birth control to regulate. May not be the same at all, but thought I'd mention

Me to my hormones rollercoastering every menstruation causing me mental and emotional issues:

#1 this is totally my son. I found out a few weeks ago, after years of living with my neighbors, they buy extra pounds of strawberries just for my son. He is known throughout the neighborhood as a strawberry fiend.

Definitely had some really heavy periods when I first stopped breastfeeding, and ovulation pain for the first time too, but it eased after a while and now it’s back to normal period inconvenience; definitely worth getting checked out if it’s been 16 days though, that’s a lot

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

What is ovulation pain like?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me it was a sharp stabby pain around day 14

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get sharp pains in my low abdomen mostly on the left side every month or so

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just in case it's fibroids and that is scary- turns out fibroids are very common.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well now I kinda wanna pour pop rocks in my pussy.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

While the short term stimulation would be exciting (I assume, not a pussy haver myself), I'd imagine the horrific yeast infection would not be worth it.

How about switching to a cup? I haven’t ruined panties/panties/sheets in years. Switched about 10 years ago.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used a cup for a long time, but it always made bloating, cramps, and constipation a little more miserable. I tried thinx for the first time this year and I'm not impressed. Reusable pads are my favorite right now but I did not see this torrent coming. I don't think anything would've saved me. Maybe super tampons, but those are as uncomfortable as the cup.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dang. Sorry to hear that. The cup made cramps non-existent for me.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck. Hope your doc listens well and you can get some sort of answer. If they are dismissive, it might be worth it to get another opinion or just find a doc who will work with you.

One day I will find a doctor who will listen to me instead of being like, "lose 1% of body fat"

My wife has an ovarian cyst and a polyp. The polyp causes bleeding after a period. She's getting an operation to take the whole ovary and polyp out. No signs of cancer thankfully. Get yourself a good ultrasound scan and a good obgyn.

#3 this was me all last week. felt like shit, felt gross and awful, all food was illegal, and then Friday night, right when i clocked out, i realized i was going to be sick. while i praying to the porcelain god, i felt it arrive. fucking asshole uterus. doesn't matter that it's not a true period (thx mirena) it's still fucking awful and painful and miserable

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had that exact experience on the mirena!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ive never had an experience like it before, either with or without the mirena. but UGH i felt AWFUL the entire week leading up to it, even had a week long migraine

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought I was pregnant. Food cravings but no appetite with nausea in the mornings, some vomiting. Then after 2 weeks of weird I got my usual greasy fried pms food craving, ate some junk, and boom, unexpected period.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m currently recovering from endometriosis surgery. It used to be managed by birth control pills, but then I started having a period every other week and chronic pelvic pain. Still don’t know what caused that, but hoping the endo treatment will help. I’m so sorry your uterus is being ruderus.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

All I can say is do not let them brush you off. Tell them your final goal, “I need to bleed less, tell me why I’m bleeding and how to fix it.” Make them sit in awkward silence until they give you the answers you need. Don’t let weeks turn into months.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I love this. I just scheduled with my ob for today and the only Dr available was one of the male Drs. I have seen him before and he's a little pompous so I'm going to use your advice.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely go see a doctor. My sister had a period for a month turned out she has ovarian cysts. :(

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was full of fibroids & cysts, the pain was a solid 9/10 most days. Thankfully transitioning cleared up the problem. Bestie bled for about 250/365 days before they agreed to an ablation because an IUD didn't help at all

Chocolate cravings during period usually mean magnesium deficiency. We usually don't get enough magnesium in our diet unless we're eating salads, green apples, etc every day. Magnesium supplement is cheap and can help. Get a chelated magnesium supp (eg: magnesium citrate). Not magnesium oxide. Chelates tend to absorb better. Careful, b/c it's also a laxative.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love all foods high in magnesium. I eat dark leafy greens, dark chocolate, beans, potatoes with the skins, coconut everything and oysters. but I'm probably not absorbing it enough

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But why would I want to stop craving chocolate. I eat it and it makes me happy.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, the idea is chocolate is full of fat and sugar. Which, in a young metabolism is fantastic. But, in an older metabolism, body can be like "nope, acid reflux!" or "nope, all this is gonna pork you up and make you tired."

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You will have to pry the chocolate out of my cold dead chubby hands!!! But for real a handful of high quality dark chocolate chips a day is my jam. That’s it. No need for more.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have no particular insight into periods, but I would love it if the butcher thing were true!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Endometriosis did that to me. Strangled my ovaries and the pain damn near killed me, and my kidneys are now at half mast from taking them so heavily for the years before I could afford an OB and treatment (it was too late for me, all they could do was a total hysterectomy). Glad to hear you are seeing a doctor.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm not expecting much pain, which is why I'm not in a hurry to see a Dr. But, if it is something like cancer, I'm done having kids and can ditch the equipment.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not cancerous at all, it's kinda gross, excess uterine lining that goes up the fallopian instead of exiting via the cervix... mine was a bad case, and the only cure would have been pregnancy at 16! A very modern problem, mine.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a hormonal IUD so I no longer bleed at all. My younger sister experienced bleeding like yours when she was pregnant, it was stuck in her tubes... It could also be stress or just hormones. Only a doctor can diagnose.

3 years ago | Likes 144 Dislikes 2

My periods were so heavy it gave me anemia, my iron was in my boots. IUD and doing better, although my periods are so fucking loopy.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

me toooo! I ❤️ it!!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I had the arm implant and quite literally almost bled to death from a period. Had to have 4 bags of blood. Unlucky reaction

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hormonal IUD 4 lyfe! Seriously it’s the best

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

I wish I could go back on hormonal birth control of any kind. I miss the regular periods it brings, but it ramps my blood pressure up to stroke-level numbers, so I'm safer being on the minipill.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

samesies 🥳❤️

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Except now they go for 7 years instead of 5, which should be a good thing but now towards the end I get my period again :(

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah they said you need to replace at 5 for that.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mirena is at 8 years now.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had the mirena years ago and only liked it for the first year.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm a mirena bitch. I'm on my 3rd. The insert/removal pain is horrible, and I've blacked out a couple of times, but I hate periods more.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Apparently some doctors are giving local anesthetic now! Worth checking if you can find one near you, a friend of mine just had hers redone with a local and didn't feel it at all.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the mirena either, I've had better luck with Liletta

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Can you elaborate?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I experienced spotting and hair loss with Mirena, Liletta I've had neither.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wow, hair loss? That's fucked

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How long post partum are you? How much are you breastfeeding? It can certainly affect your cycle but if it's abnormally heavy that would be cause for concern.

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

13 months post partum. Still nursing all hours other than 9-5

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Oooooh solidarity. I’m 16 months in with my third kid.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Anecdotally, mine were SO heavy for 1-2years after breastfeeding. Ridiculously heavy. I ended getting a hormonal IUD.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh i got loooong heavy bleeding menstruations after getting a c-section. 19 years later its still hemorragic-style each 3 weeks, for a week and half. I asked for a removal of the endo-something(the part that bleeds in the uterus.) I'll have to wait months before seeing a gyneco about that. I hope its gonna fix it. Maybe ask your obgyn if thats something you may need?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

16 months post partum here still doing night feeds. I've always had an irregular period but the first 3 years post partum is really bad I can skip a month or two and then the next period is like 3 weeks long.definitly check in with an OB just to be safe what's normal for one body isn't always normal for another. Hope you feel better soon momma

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hmmm... First cycle post partum? Have you had previous bleeding issues?

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

No, this is like the 4th cycle pp. This is all abnormal. But, like most women, I'm assuming it's just weird hormones and a one off weird one. I had a tubal and c section when my baby was born. Hopefully my Dr will have more insight with a full history.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

My 3rd or 4th cycle PP with both of my babies were freaking bloodbaths. My first baby it lasted over a month and I had to go in weekly for iron tests for a month after. Doc said it was fairly normal both times outside of developing anemia, which I was always borderline for anyway. Get some good period panties and take iron supplements.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Oh and I did get an U/S my first time to check for anything abnormal. I had a ovarian cyst, but it wasn’t bleeding and i have one most months. It’s scary but i was and am perfectly fine with another healthy pregnancy a few years later.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Definitely see your doctor. None of this sounds normal. And if they blow you off, seek a second opinion.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'd def go get seen asap. I hope all is okay @op

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Thanks, I'm not very worried. I just want it to stop. I'm doing too much laundry
