In wrestling they have a term called "stealing a house" it basically means that people are excited to see a 2 guys wrestle but everyone at the wrestling company knows at least of the guys sucks at wrestling, so the match won't be very entertaining. So you build up to a big show let him wrestle. People won't be excited for him going forward, but hey you got their money for this show. That feels infinitely more ethical than charging people for a main event that just isn't gonna actually happen.

I liked UFC in the 90's, when I was a teenager. I watched it some in the '00s, but in the past 15 years, I have seen about 10 fights total and always because they happened to be on where I was. Since the whole White House disrespect bullshit, I will make sure to never see another fight.
