Most of the information is from my own experiences using Airbnb both as a guest and a host, but here are some more sources:

Btw, I made A SHIT ton of money when I hosted my Airbnb ($6k in July alone), so I get why people do it, but I guess I'm not the type that can sell my soul for money.

Tried it in Ireland and it was the most comfortable sleep we had. Unfortunately we would not do it again due to logistics left between us and host, compared to hotels with Customer Service. No need to wait over hours/days for reply.

The primary innovation of 2010s tech companies is creating scams that are hard to punish and skimming off them.

I've done both hosting and staying. Honestly I had more problems with guests than I had often with hosts. But Airbnb does shit for Hosts.

While punishing you for trying to maintain some aspect of control over your own house or flat.

I really don’t understand scammers in this context that the listing doesn’t even exist. No money, so...

I use Airbnb for cheap photography studio locations for onlyfans content. It's basically perfect for that.

It's perfect for a lot of things, but the negative effects remain.

I honestly can't get studio space cheaper any other way. And I don't make or leave a mess. It's a win-win for my use case.

I do understand about bullshit killing tenant space for renters but rent-seekers are always going to be garbage humans.
