Pew! Pew pew pewpew! That's the noise you hear before your parents disappear beneath the ice after assuring you it's safe. But you're not convinced you were genetically related to them. As such you begin a worldwide search for those worthy of being considered your family, and you form a worldwide empire from within nations and overthrow their governments and become the singular controlling force on earth. Normal.

At some point you have to ask why they didn’t title the video How Thin Is The Water At Frozen Lake Shenanigans?

Fun fact: Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world, it's deepest point being a bit more than a mile below the surface. It's also the largest freshwater lake by volume, containing more fresh water than all of the American Great Lakes combined.

I've always wanted to visit it. Then things got weird and now you couldn't pay me to travel to Russia.

7?

I was actually expecting it to be a lot thicker. Currently in Ottawa, Canada, the Rideau Canal ice thickness is 36cm and all sections are open for skating. (https://ncc-ccn.gc.ca/places/skateway-ice-conditions)

For the Americans: 36 cm = 42% of the height of a washing machine. Or about 15 cheetos.

This sound lives rent free in my subconscious fears from the one fucking time I fell through the ice

Nice that you can see the bottom. My cousin and I walked out a mile onto Lake Erie one year when it had frozen nearly completely, ice sheet was about 18” thick and clear as glass. But all I could see beneath my feet was a lightless abyss and I could feel the rumbling beneath my feet from large pieces of moving ice under the ice sheet. Totally jarring.

That’s a big narp for me brah

That's actually the reflection of the cloud cover.

I don’t think so. The parallax seems off for that. Also, the reflection of the bright yellow skates (and person) is a faint shadow, suggesting most of the light is transmitted rather than reflected.
