I intend to hunker down in the living room with Jackie and the AC, but the amount of noise drives me bonkers and I also have to cook chicken today or it will be in the trash.

weather

ORANGE WARNING? Are all weather alerts in Canada like fuckin Star Trek? RED ALERT. TORNADO. SHIELDS UP!

They recently changed to a colour coded system to help synchronise with more international standards that use color codes, I am told. Makes sense when you may have tourists who may not understand non-color coding.

Its 80F with 75% humidity where I am. I hate it.....(i dont know the F to C conversation, im just trying to emphasize with you bc I also hate this weather)

Warmer here, but not as humid, so probably 'feels like' about the same for both *solidarity*

This is too warm for a high in mid July? 82°F?

Well I do see the 10am part now...

It's also Winnipeg Manitoba. It shouldn't be this hot maybe at noon for a few hours.

Fourth day over 104 in the shade here. Weather app shows high 90s. But my analog temp mounted to the wall is over the 100 and where it is, it NEVER gets any direct sunlight. I think the weather app lies to downplay the rising global temps.

I have a thermometer on the inside corridors' wall. It was showing 30 degrees yesterday with the AC on. Today I have the door to the living room cold, but now I dread how hot the bedroom will be. Maybe its time to sleep in the recliner.

I know you didnt ask...but those orange squishy construction earplugs are great for blocking out the higher white noise of A/Cs while still being able to talk relatively comfortably.

I should look into them. I hate having my ears blocked by anything... headphones, earplugs, but if it gives me some sanity I'll go for it. I find also its half the sound and half the vibrations. Stupid autism.

I get it, I had to replace every lighting ballast in my apt when i moved in bc of the humming. But, yeah dude, give 'em a shot, they're cheap as heck and are good for other activities like concerts, fireworks, and of course power tools. I would study with them and my big studio headphones on top...was like a little sound deprivation chamber.

But eating with earplugs or headphones is terrible.

I had this thing called the Hum the first few winters I lived here. Drove me nuts. Wasnt any appliance in the suite. I tried earplugs. Not only did it not work but I became more aware of my tinnitus.

I heard that it's gonna hit near 50C today with humidity in Winnipeg and Brampton. Meanwhile, here in Edmonton, it's been thunderstorm central, and now we have Winnipeg-level mosquitoes.

I'm opposite to my across the hall neighbor. She loves the sun and the heat. Meanwhile I'm sitting in the dark with the AC on. She's going to the grocery store right now and gonna pick me up some cold food, bless her. But she's still insane.

I said Brampton lol, meant Brandon. I lived in Toronto for 50 years, now live in the prairies. Being down by Lake Ontario was humid like southern MB. Edmonton is usually dry as heck, but 4 major thunderstorms in 2 days, with another on the way.

We have so many tornado warnings already this year. x.x One appeared suddenly and touched down /in the city/ before any warnings could even go out! Nobody was hurt thankfully.

I am grateful for the rain though as it will help the forest fires somewhat at least

It's been a month long tornado warning here, or it feels like. We had one kill a few folks out to the east. I'm afraid we're due for a nasty one. This Super El Nino isn't doing what an El Nino should...yet.

The system broke the first tornado starter we had... some people got 40+ warnings in a one hour period and some got zero. x.x
