We have a deaf dog, and wake him up similarly, fortunately he's not having sight problems (yet though he is 10 so it might happen sooner or later).

Mine is 13, she has Pannus so her eyesight started worsening early on

my guy is a Dogo Argentino and was born deaf (which is pretty common in the breed). But it's never slowed him down for a second.
