This is a normal sized man for crying out loud. The car looks like it's 200% larger than it needs to be. Fuck car manufacturers, and honestly, car culture.

That looks like a Volvo XC90. The size of which is 195" (4953mm) long, 79.1" (2008mm) wide, and 70" (1776mm) tall. So it's 5'10" tall. That's bonkers. It also suggests that guy might be well over 6ft tall. I have a '95 Toyota Surf (4Runner in the states), and that used to be considered a big car. Next to modern behemoths it's positively dainty. My daily is a Renault Clio, it's like a shoebox in comparison, but more than big enough for most of my needs.

Not 100% sure this is real, something looks a bit odd. But I'm ashamed this is from my otherwise usually sensible country. Volvo has really made ugly cars the past 20 years.

The 2014-2019 spa based volvo xc90s like the one in this picture are ~1.7m tall from ground when the air suspension is not on offroad mode. At a glance, that would make this guy about 1.75m tall or ~5'7.
Being the largest car that volvo makes, they are still nowhere close to being among the most egregiously huge cars in north america and are generally built with relatively small engines, sensible safety specifications and a fairly reasonable ground clearance designed for swedish snow roads.

Here in the US, it's squarely on the manufacturers' greed. "AmeRIcaNs doN't WAnt sMaLL VeHICles!" they screech, knowing full well they can charge much more for a larger car but the labor to put it together is the same. Now Americans have very few "small" options and everything's ridiculously McLargeHuge.

The fun thing American car companies do is take 50 year old truck chassis and put luxury bodies on them and charge 3x more for them... they don't cost much more to make but generate a LOT more profit.
We also have artificially low gas prices in the US (don't worry, people still complain)... fuel taxes should cover the cost of road construction, but they do not (in fact, gas taxes only cover 26% of road construction and maintenance costs)... in Europe, the fuel taxes pay for the roads.

Yeah that's been debunked. There are no more small cars to purchase, forcing everyone to get a larger one.
It's the same with how landlords simultaneously increase prices. It's literally a cartel, but it's "informal", without communication, so it's basically impossible to prove.
Corporatism gets regulated often, but then just mutates into something else to get around the "problem".
