There may well be, but I doubt it was similar to the image depicted in the post above. changes to the pose of a paintings subject was common

But it would be highly irregular for the pose to change so dramatically. It's usually more subtle changes - like the position of a hand.

And while there may be an under-layer, its unlikely it would show on x-ray. The reason the above one does is because it was painted in lead.

Does anyone know why the original painting shows up on xray? Wouldnt the strokes of the alteration cover up the original strokes?

1/? Different mineral pigments reflect/expel x-ray differently. Changes while the paint is all still wet would obscure early versions;

2/? cleaning the 1st paint off the canvas would make it gone; if the layer dries and you paint over it, it’s there forever.

The x-ray isn't actually part of the original painting. It was done by a contemporary artist who used the under drawing as a reference.
