You didn't even knock the slag off!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What'd you expect? He didn't even remove the scale before welding.

Not a chance in hell an engineer laid that bead!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He now! I've been a welder longer than engineer, I can lay beads in my sleep.

Mmmm welding porn

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

That’s some nice penetration ?

glue gun

bruh you can't post porn on imugr

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Grind off the mill scale before welding, you will get more penetration and a stronger weld.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

And grind your pull off to get rid of that star crack/fish eye or I would bust this one :)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just a piece of scrap so it's no big deal

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nice

4 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

O ya buddy glue it real good!!!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right purdy, that

Welding seems like a fun and satisfying way to make a living. Unfortunately I can't afford classes and nobody around here will pay to train.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Find a job where welding is done, they will train you. It's mostly practice.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats a pity, and it's also a seriously high paying job of you go high enough in it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Get a job at a stainless fabrication shop with the agreement that they will train you 5 hours a week on welding/progress to welding. They...

Need all the help they can get trust me.

spot on

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

From a non-welder, why whenever I see these do people fawn over them? Is that certain pattern difficult to reproduce?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Stack of Dimes.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Most of them don't know what they are looking at, it's a trained response. This is just an average well laid hand MIG weld.

Welding isn't easy. Is this particular bead hard? Not really. The hard part is to be able to do this consistently. And not burn yourself..

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's mostly that maintaining an even motion (a repeating series of loops) while moving from one side to the other is not something easy.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ehhhh, it takes a little practice but it's nothing too crazy. Doing this with tig, or any out of position welding is a little more tough.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A steady hand helps, but you're absolutely right - up-hands and overheads are far more challenging to make them pretty like that imho.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can get a lot more tough depending on the metal.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair, but this looks like general carbin steel. So nothing too crazy.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Steel? Can you do it with a stick? Could be stick? Weld it on the bottom too? You're hired.

Knew a guy who made beads like with no mask and just his hand covering the area

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Fun, easy and risky.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Grandpa, is that you?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

No, but that guy was 24 and farm raised. His skill really took off after working at Champion welding weight sets.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Speak up son, I can't see you

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I SAID GRANDPA, IS THAT YOU?

I'm so sad that I must weld on galvanized steel. Doomed to be porous but hired to hide it. No nice patterns, only cheap manufacturing.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Oh god I'm sorry, galv sucks. And that isn't just because of the toxic fumes. Hope you have good fresh breathing air!!!

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Best welder in the shop but all it means are that my dog turd welds are smooth and evenly-sized. I just love breathing zinc, tho!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

*frantic PAPR noises*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are there other shops nearby? That allbsounds terrible. And why aren't they welding before galvanizing?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's pretty easy work and the dangerous gasses mean that I'm both better-paid and secure in my job.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weld engineer chiming in, that is in fact a weld.

What's engineering day?

4 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 1

In the current climate what *isn't* engineering day? Amirite?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

The day corporate celebrates not knowing what you do and paying you too little to do it.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Truer words have not been spoken before

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyday is engineering day

4 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 1

The opposite of engifaring day.

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

It’s an annual day set aside to appreciate engineering and engineering related activities

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If only it could get me a response for all these entry level EE applications I have been putting in the last few months

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where are you located? The company I work for is looking for one.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm in CA, Thousand Oaks location. Would prefer to stay away from the LA area, but if there's work, then I'll be there.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0
