A few days ago my kid wanted to look at KfD's kittens with me, and the first thing we saw when I opened imgur was some lady playing with herself. I'm all for freedom of expression but at least keep it to the appropriate platforms instead of forcing it on the rest of us.

When I block an account I take a quick look at what they post to see if it's a large volume of posts from them or a one-off, and seeing as we've just had xmas selfies you can see it's definitely not the "horny teenager" stereotype, at least physically

It's not that the number of those posts has gone up.
They have mostly stayed about the same amounts.
It's that the amount of other content has dropped.
So it now makes those same few people who post it, seem way more prominent, simply because they now make up a larger percentage of the content being posted.

The thing is, it's not just "sex stuff", it's mostly women being objectified. This does not equal "sex stuff". I *like* mature posts - I like naughty memes (easy on the kink), I like discussions about sex (where people can give each other sincere advice while being respectful). What I don't like is the majority of posts featuring women being posts that objectify them. It's a symptom of a sick system.

Politics is even worse, there's a constant stream of accounts (new and old) who'll pick up posting US political bullshit, and then huge waves around major events. If anything posting women is where politics used to be in 'quieter times', and I really wouldn't be surprised if it's gets to similar levels. Everyone here knows bandwagons grow if the thin end of the wedge is allowed, like the nazi bar meme (for want of another example)

Procrastination extension of the point- what stands out to me is two sides to it, on one hand until there's a definitive statement from the admins/mods about whether they approve/disapprove their action/inaction and what appears and stays up on the site reflects what they want, and similarly with the users what they do is who they are.

In the background I can't help thinking the site owners don't want to deal with anything so long as it doesn't cause legal trouble, they don't have the appetite for drama beyond that if they wanted to change direction and clean things up, promote other kinds of content (how long since an 'organized fun' event?). If things get too bad they'll just pull the plug on the site and walk away

Oh no, that is not what I implied at all. Rather that this is a good way to see what percentage of images of women sexualise them. If it's just a small percentage (<10%), that is fine, sexuality is part of life. If it is a significant part, that is worrisome, since it gives the impression that these are the main things women are being valued for. I didn't bother to count them, because it seemed clear that the % would be near or over 50.

I would say check it out yourself and form your own opinion. Plenty of people absolutely love it. Apparently one guy has a problem with it because of one person. It’s way more customizable than Imgur is with the tags. It’s a “knockoff” because people who were sick of the way things are being handled here decided to take the initiative and make their own site to try and make something better.

The point being the knockoff website is clearly attracting the fucking weirdos and the ones who claim that "Business Daddy" is what's wrong with Imgur (and not, you know... some of the actual users). Also, still a knockoff site. The U.I. is terrible and it probably needs another year or two to be "good".
