Everyone needs to calm down about poisonous mushrooms, this is not a foraging guide. It's just a flavor guide on store bought mushrooms.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Amanita ocreata is pretty good if you don't mind the liver failure.

Whenever i read something saying it has an "earthy " flavour i immediately just think of the way it tastes like damp mud smells

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

some of us like the taste of the smell of damp mud

Or hedgehogs. Or shaggy manes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chanterelles are amazing! Lucky to be able to harvest them locally in Newfoundland.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

WAIT WHAT? Do tell? I've been looking like crazy for them all over St. John's.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're pretty deep in woods and up near tree trunks etc. Gotta really hunt for the but I've heard of some in pippy park and other 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wooded areas around town! People are pretty secretive about their spots once they find them though lol 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes b'y. Thanks a lot. I'll keep an eye out for them.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No problem! I''m not sure their season but there were some on the go in mid October. Happy hunting!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quite an abundance of them here in the Baltics. We make a nice sauce from them.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Chantarelles fried in butter is the best!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

TIL mushrooms are given the same douchey type of descriptions beer and wine get.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 6

"Douchey" descriptions help a lot when you're cooking. Just cos you don't understand it doesn't make it stupid

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Im still not totally sure what "robust" tastes like tbh. I agree with you. My mom was super big into the whole douchy descriptions thing

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I could feed her crappy nasty food that was cheap and as long as i said it was good and exspensive shed be all for it. Most people who give

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Robust just means "a strong flavor" so if somethings only description is robust thats not helpful. Like it could be a strong salty or sweet

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those descriptions honestly cant tell between cheap vs. Costly or specifically what types they were. They just make most of it up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im doing shrooms this weekend.

10 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 8

Lmao I love this

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

I microdosed them all summer. Shrooms are the best. Have fun!

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Remember, no dairy beforehand.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Cheers for the tip

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Have a good trip fam

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Remember to prepare music beforehand. I heavily recommend Shpongle's Nothing Lasts album

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Enjoy your vacation! Hear me out here, take a shower, it is absolutely amazing on shrooms.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Think the same applies for lsd?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not sure, never tried it but I've done mushrooms about a dozen times and showers, ratatat, and nature walks are amazing. But avoid mirrors

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Avoid mirrors?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, too much opportunity for weird visuals involving your own face. It can get very unsettling that's just my experience though.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Depends on your trip. Just go with the flow.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nooooooooooooope

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude yes, I've been doing them the last three weeks, I'm bumping up to 3.5 grams of dried golden teacher can't waot

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

Golden teachers are the shitttttt! I want to grow them. Careful with your dosage, don't go crazy ;)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Last three weeks? How does that work?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Over the past three weeks like every other day

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They won't work then? Or what's your dosage

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I take 3 grams soaked in lemon juice for 1 hour to break down psilocyne and I do that about every other day

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of them are so freakishly expensive. I saw someone spend $100 on 1/4 pound of the last mushroom.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i get it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chanterelles are my favorite (and Pine mushrooms) and they are SO fun to go hunting for. But it is hard work, that is why they cost lots.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Okay, where? Because you can easily find 10 pounds each fall in the forest here in Austria. I'll take a direct flight with a shipment :-P

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In NYC, US. They're not common at all here, and you can only get them at speciality of luxury grocery markers.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like it might be a good idea to back your bags Foxy!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The problem is, I show up with 100 pounds a day old, can I sell fast enough before they get old? At least they are more durable shrooms.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Could just wait two years and dry them, probably half the price but double the yield. I'm in to this idea now...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dried I could do shittons. I mean, the yield of a single fall harvest would be quite large. But where to sell to?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Add a festive flair to dinner by adding pyschodelic mushrooms.

10 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 4

*psychedeli - when they taste nice too

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ah yes, this dinner would be much better it everything was composed of tiny squiggles.

psilocybin*

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

As long as they aren't cooked psilocybin breaks down at 120 degrees. But 7 fresh grams would equal a quarter dry so salad it up!

Also know that there are poisonous mushrooms that look just like these. So before you try the ones in you backyard make sure you are positiv

10 years ago | Likes 174 Dislikes 3

this title was to be played out differently in my head

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Shh ...natural selection

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 9

I see myself as a positive guy.. can have some mushrooms now!?

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Does hiv positive make me imune?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Sure does! That's exactly what hiv does. Immune to everything!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ESPECIALLY morels; more than half will kill you agonizingly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is especially true in the US. There's multiple types of mushrooms that all look the exact goddamn same.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are only edible once

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The best way to check if you have poisonous mushrooms in your bunch is to boil them with an onion if the onion turns a black/green/blue (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

colour then you have a poisonous mushroom and the whole batch will be inedible.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have a friend try them first.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3-4 of these grow wild. Most are farmed. Your backyard will never have much: learn enough from experts to look further.

10 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

We find porcini, chanterelles, black trumpets, yellowfoot, sweet tooth and many others in Finland :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We find morels in our backyard all the time, and lobster mushrooms (best dried) in our state park.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

you have been visited by the fairy of mushroom fortune

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Tons of morels in MN

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

All mushrooms are edible. Some are only edible once.

Don't forget the rest of Mr. Pratchett's quote, "One of the few times when a lifetime supply and lethal dose can be measured the same way."

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This list is missing a couple amazing mushrooms that taste delicious and have no poisonous mimickers but I don't know their English names.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Find Russian articles on wikipedia, then click English version. Hedgehog, yellow foot, saffron milk cap, and gypsy: excellent mushrooms.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well... no.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tried biting through https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piptoporus_betulinus today... It is not poisonous but no chance in biting through

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

... used as a razor strop... yyyeaaaah, you might have to cook that one for a day or two.

In alaska the yupik eskimos call it "eskimo cocaine". They burn it to a black and grey ash and mix it with snuff. Pretty good
