Holy shit #8 my ex did this sometimes. I wouldn't reply in a 15 minute window so I was clearly not talking to her, not busy doing stuff.

This post is cropped so fucking fantastically I kept scrolling when I reached the comment section, waiting to see more pictures.

Imgur patting itself on the back for making dull observations on various posts.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#20 is reddit. Can imgur really not tell a difference? There's at least 1 reddit screenshot in every imgur gold post.

I don't get the Tetris one, can someone explain?

The one going to the Olympics is going to be the winner's podium. The comment references how the long piece is so rare to see in the game.

I guess @whoah is the tsa agent who felt up a guy in that gif

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Noop, mine was in a Maryland jail!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may or may not have tried hovering over one or two of those comment image links. I'm not proud.

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

I tried clicking on an upvote to the right of the second set of share thingies. I too am not a bright man.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I may or may not have upvoted you for doing the same thing.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was going to post the same - glad I wasn't the only one

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Imgur Gold = Reposting everything, but with the added twist of posting that picture's Top Comment along with it. Then taking all the credit.

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 8

Hey, this took work to assemble, and I enjoyed this gallery. And OP clearly isn't taking credit.

There's one where I question whether or not I was part of the chain of comments but remembered I commented on the next gallery

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

if anyone was wondering what the gif was on #25 here it is

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

While scientology is not accepted as a religion in Germany, they are still allowed to operate here, so #1 is kind of irrelevant.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Odinsday is Wednesday, bastardized from a variant spelling "Woden", if I recall correctly. Monday is "day of the moon", I think?

10 years ago | Likes 254 Dislikes 1

Did you know that the English word "Wednesday" comes from a place in Sheffield where the locals would gather in the middle of the week?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It comes from the Old Frisian "Wednesdei", introduced into Middle English around the 13th century.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even though it's now June, I May have tried to make a joke about Sheffield Wednesday...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think that's supposed to be part of the joke of making wednesday after tuesday...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

All hail glorious Odin!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The "wednes" actually comes from some out of left field Frisian that leaked into English in the 13th century.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you sure? I think they already called it that in Old English, and that was pretty similar to Old Frisian anyway.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, Woden in OE is Woden. Old Frisian, by the by, used "Wednesdai", which was introduced into the newish ME in the 13th century.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's interesting. How did you come to know that information?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I came across it b/c I'm a polytheist with a focus on Scottish and Anglo-Saxon beliefs. As for the info itself: /a/Jb8JN

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Summary of the wiki screenshots: OE wednesday is Wodnesdæg. ME is when Wednesday appeared first, & Old Frisian has an attested "wednesdei"

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In German Wednesday is Mittwoch. Literally "middle of the week"...

10 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Litterally the most german thing since the invasion of Poland.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

In Danish we call Wednesday "onsdag" derived directly from Odin.

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

That's what we call it in Swedish too. Scandinavians unite!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

SAME WITH NORWEGIAN.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Same with English! Mr. Wednesday is prolific.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Came here to say just that. Sun Day, Moon Day, Tyr's Day, Odin's Day, Thor's Day, Frige's Day and Saturn's Day...

10 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 0

The Norwegian word for saturday is derived from what (directly translated) means "wash-day", which was the time of week when we'd wash.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Thought it was a bunch of random gods, Sun Day, Moon Day, Zeus Day, Venus Day, Thor's Day, Freya's Day, Saturn Day

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sunna's Day, Mani's Day, Tiw's Day, Woden's Day, Thunor's Day, Freya's Day, Sæternesdæg. It's all Anglo-Saxon.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so it's definitely NOT Thor's Day?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of people tend to forget the English were pagan too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone was. Some of us are working to bring it back instead of bullshit newage and wiccan junk.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

same but Freya's day, Norse goddess of sex

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Accurate

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Frige is Frej who is Freja's brother, he is who the day is named after.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not sure why they threw a Roman god in at the end when all the rest are Norse

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

From what I have been told Odin and Saturn have some similar traits and origin stories. Although I haven't read anything that confirms this

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's actually from the OE Sæternesdæg. While a reference to Saturn, it wasn't a random Roman inclusion.

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Well, "Sun" and "Moon"...nobody in particular. Maybe it's Apollo and Diana.

10 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

"Sunna" and "Mani", Anglo-Saxon sun and moon gods.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We call it "Lørdag" up north. Apparently from "laugardagr" that meant Washing day.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Because the Romans added it
