Knocked it out of the park, straight up.

I'm one of those folks that does not get rid of tools until long after they're dead. "I can fix it. Just needs a little love." My rotary tool has been spitting sparks for 5+ years and it can finally retire.

Not shown: a swanky pair of PCB socks! Most excellent!

This is the slightly melted, slightly burnt, very sticky mess it will be replacing.

Fun fact, vulcanized rubber degrades and turns sticky as it decomposes. Sources online recommend peeling off the rubber coat or hosing it with isopropyl until it's smooth, but that's most everything that's holding this one together and I can't unfsck it. Fare the well, old friend.
