For some context: These revenge killings are being done by pro- Assad forces. This the continuation of the war. Assad fleeing was a big deal but it was never going to mean all his supporters just would lay down their arms and surrender.

Some of his supporters are generals and soldiers accused of war crimes they have no way to go after Assad run away and left them behind, plus Iran is sending them money and smuggling weapons to them to destabilize Syria for a chance to return Assad or one of her proxies to power

It's required for outrage farming in the West. It also feeds into the Christian persecution narrative a lot of right-wing elements are trying to push within the U.S. sphere in particular.

I'm not a Christian, but Christians do regularly get killed by the likes of ISIS. They are a minority in those countries.
