Finished product first.
Stated with round dowel
Using a draw knife I thinned the dowel down to a pointer end
Thinned down to about half diameter at end
Idea is to make it appear like 3 vines/sticks twisted together
Used a dremel to do most of the carving
Carving out veins
Spiraling pattern
Got most of vein paths cut
Cleaned up, time for hand sanding
Sanding and refined
Oiled up and ready for "magic"
Ribbon magic coming out the end, drilled hole and glued ribbon midpoints into hole
Clear glue painted on and glitter sprinkled over. Will be multiple coats
Mostly finished. Just need more glitter. An surprise laid into the veins
More glitter and glue drying.
Veins were coated in glow in the dark glitter glue.
Hope she likes it. Super into all things Frozen. Requires us to call her Elsa sometime to get a response.

Yer a witch Elsa.
HarrisHomestead
She can definitely be a witch, but we prefer the term threenager. Helluva an attitude sometimes
TemporarilyEmbarrassedThousandaire
You're a good dad. In a few more years, teach her how you did it.
HarrisHomestead
Absolutely. She already helps start the garden seeds and transplant. And both kids help collect eggs, feed birds, and shovel bedding.

Shoot, I didn't even look at your username. Carry on, citizen. Captain Obvious, out.
PenguinHat1998
That looks so cool but at first I really thought you were holding a weird baguette ?
Twinklepot
I'm glad I wasn't the only one!
HarrisHomestead
That's ok. Even with the ribbon and glitter?
PenguinHat1998
Only the first picture looked like a baguette, after that one I realized what it actually was lol
MoogieMomm
That's terrific, I'm sure she's going to love that wand. Handmade or homemade are the gifts to receive.
HarrisHomestead
I hope she likes it. The kids are fairly simple. They get excited to feed the chickens and play in the dirt. They dont need much fancy stuff
MoogieMomm
That is wonderful .
SometimesIBuildThings
Careful with that draw knife. My half brother used one.
HarrisHomestead
What happened?
SometimesIBuildThings
He's now my half brother.
HarrisHomestead
Oh. I was wondering if that's where you were going with it.

The Woodright's Shop is good TV.
