Me
I would be happy living like this. But I have a cooler hat than that. (hint: It's pink and has bunny ears)
How many fingers on my right hand? Seven.
Why spend $ on a Corvette in the first place?
I used to work at a Tex-mex restaurant that curated a museum's worth of hot sauces. One day I was testing new sauces with the owner and I forgot to wash my hands before using the bathroom. Long story short it was a grown man sobbing while pouring milk into his undies in a restaurant bathroom.
This meme is skeleton approved!
I actually do know and have built electric motors by hand.
Blame Ruzzia.
One time me and some friends were out 4wheeling on a pretty nasty road outside of town when we came upon a group of college idiots in a BMW that had taken a rock in the oil pan. We towed them back to the gate so they could call a tow-truck from there.

It's not Pennywise' fault. It's just misunderstood.

#12 Time travellers might want to be careful with that. There are accounts of people coming up with ideas "before their time" and getting put to death for them. Even in the last couple of centuries there were developments that the discoverer got ridiculed and outcast all their life for before it was accepted. ( Like antiseptic practices, continental drift etc )
Pilgrymm
That's their own fault for not approaching it correctly.

"All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident." - Arthur Schopenhauer
NotSomoneElse68
The problem is that really stupid ideas go through the first two stages as well. As a result, so many people with stupid ideas think that they're going to be seen as correct as soon as everyone else agrees with them.

#12 I don't know why, but I've had this thought several times. I think it comes from some deep seated superiority issues as you would know you are the smartest in the room or if it's genuine curiosity if one could actually minecraft/dr. stone their way back to current civilization. You would probably die or kill everyone else with a disease if you actually went back.

#7 If they're in medicine, it's because the HIPAA law specifies we have to use secure forms of transmission, "such as fax." Doesn't define "secure" any further. So, lots of times, I'm uploading a .pdf to a fax service, knowing the recipient will likely download it from a fax service.

#9 having driven corvettes and other fast cars. Fast cars are fun, especially on a track. However, drugs would probably be cheaper.
Pyrowolf1
You could probably take shrooms for ... Idk $50? I'm not a shrooms expert... And think you're driving a fast car
Pilgrymm
I've done shrooms, both times were bad trips. Acid however was a better experience for me.
Pilgrymm
Don't get me wrong I do love a fast car, classic cars, imports etc. I just think modern 'vettes are overhyped plastic junk with nice engines. However I'd probably love to drive one on a track.
dohcohv
Price/speed for a Corvette is about the best you are going to get in the industry, that has been their chief selling point for a long time. Can you buy a faster car? Yes, but it's going to cost 2x as much or more. Can you buy a more refined car? Yes, but it'll be slower or way more money. The Corvette also uses a reliable engine with cheap parts that doesn't overheat like a lot of exotics do, you could literally drive it every day. I say this as someone who has zero plans to ever buy a Corvette.
dohcohv
I'd prefer something lighter, slower, and cheaper as a daily driver because you'll never be able to push a Corvette on public roads like you can something like a Miata. My daily is a BMW r1200, and it's very quick, but you only get a few seconds of fun before you run into lose your license territory.
RenegadeSci
Yes, it's a mid engine now. However, it's a small block 327 V-8 mid engine that doesn't cost over $500 for an oil change.
Hurro
I'd heard the same thing about the Miata.
Hurro
Obviously, the Vette is in a different class than a Miata, but just for that dollar amount it's a lot of fun.
dohcohv
Having owned a Miata for ten years, it's good for it's price especially in running costs. 30+mpg on the highway, fun on the back roads, but the early ones are definitely not great at long distance driving. lots of fatigue from noise and vibrations.

Get an old MkIII Supra (III, 'cause Mk IVs sell for more than they did in 96, and Mk Vs are way too expensive for what they can do) Then buy a new 2JZ-GTE engine (yes, you still can get them) Then add as much turbo, downpipe and intercooler as you can afford, and your mechanic can fit under the hood. Do not worry, there is room, and the engine can take it. If needed, upgrade the clutch and the gearbox so they can take. You will get a car faster, cheaper, and to some, cooler than a Corvette
Tuidjy
By the way, you can get faster and cheaper starting with other cars, but I like MkIII Supras, I have worked on half a dozen, and they have an even better reputation than they deserve. Before I got married, I used to put together a new one every 2-3 years, and keep the better one. My current one has original red paint, 460hp at the wheels (had more, but this one drives better) and is nothing short of a joy to drive. It could look better, but for old me, there's nothing more pleasant to drive.
dohcohv
Faster in a straight line, slower in every other way and less reliable.
Tuidjy
Performance wise: Technically, you are absolutely right. In practice, anywhere but on the track, the cars will be close enough that the one who will end up in front is the one who goes full-out first, and that's very unlikely to be a your average Corvette driver. Maybe the average Z06 driver, but the only one I see regularly in my city is driven by a guy my age ('round 60) and I have never seen him go over 40mph.
Tuidjy
Reliability: To be honest, I have been wanting to replace my power steering hose since March, and I have had to return two that claimed to be what I need. And yes, I probably have to fix/tune something every few months. But i would bet that in ten years, if I am still alive, I will still have my Supra, it will still run as smoothly as only I6s can, and I will have spent less money maintaining it than 99% of people with 10 year old Corvettes. The other 1% will have 5000 miles on theirs.
