#8 Lucas fucked up this so badly... Padme didnt just 'loose the will to live', Palpetine used the Force connection between Anikin and Padme to drain her life away in order to keep Anikin alive and create Vader. It was just really was badly written/portrayed/unexplained in the movie. The droid only said that because it had no way to know that Padme was still dying, despite all medical intervention, because some Sith Lord was stealing her life force away, but without context it just sounds dumb.

This is an oft-repeated fan theory that goes against the rules of both cinema and how force powers work. You're talking about the emperor using a force power over an interstellar distance to an unknown location to kill someone with no seeming effort. If you want to subscribe to it, more power to you, but it's still a fan theory.

Could have sworn I saw a comic of it ages ago, but it could have been a fan-made comic for all I know. It was also something re-told among all my nerd friends too, so it didnt seem fan-made-only. But it can be kind of hit and miss on whats canon still and what isnt thanks to Disney and being old and remembering all the EU lore before it was trashed.
