Trump is the Anti-American

Nations don't want anything - they can't. It's the people in charge who want things, and they're just as capable of stupidity and corruption as anyone else.

That's why "no kings" is right. Kings used to go to battle with their Army, not staying behind comfortably in their fortress or golf course

It is mind boggling how many times I have to explain to people that it's ALWAYS about the money (usually accompanied by a healthy dose of men-would-rather-cause-astronomical-human-suffering-than-go-to-therapy). Surely we know this by now 🤨

US attacking Iran is not war, US follows Israel's lead in Israel's attempt to subjugate ME, to grab land and force people like those at Yemen to stop resisting the genocide US and Israel are committing against Palestinians. The attack against Iran is not a separate event, it is continuing the genocide and everything that follows from it. It is Israel's extreme nationalism backed up by USA

Yes, but they can be both.

Why don't presidents fight the war?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

War is a racket. War is always to steal someone else's shit. That's it.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kill those in power before they kill you. It is and always will be self defense.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fucking Trump. Annoucing a cease fire between Iran and Isreal that ends the war. A cease fire that neither Iran or Isreal knows anything about.

Man imagine if Ghengis Khan saw what had become of the world leaders

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why do they always send the poor?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They send the people they can convince to go. That's young and poor people

"War isn't hell. War is war and hell is hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse. Who goes to hell? Sinners. There are no innocent bystanders in hell. War is chock full of them--little kids, disabled people, old ladies... In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander." --Hawkeye, M*A*S*H (slightly paraphrased)

Welcome to Marx's definition of the state.

In nearly all cases where a war is started, yes, but in the case of defense, no. Would you say zelensky is evil for fighting this war? And there are times when one side tries to deescalate, but the other side continues their aggression, so the first must enter into a preemptive war to prevent greater casualties. I wouldn't fault England for fighting the Nazis for example, or America for joining in the war. Many wars stem from a need to prevent domination. In the case of Iran and Israel, they're

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Both bad actors who do terrible things. But I doubt very much Iran would have started this war if Israel weren't such a ruthless murderous war mongering evil in the region. Maybe they would have eventually, but it was the deal Trump broke that lead to escalating tensions. In other words, that may have been true in the past, and still true in many cases, but saying always breaks down nuance and understanding and tries to shoehorn in a world view that doesn't welcome critical thinking.

@zafner Imagine my surprise when I came across my own comment in the wild. Thanks for the big ups.

People have this bizarre knee-jerk response to evil acts where they seem to assume that the person doing them doesn't know or understand the consequences. They almost always do, they just don't give a shit. That line about "never ascribe to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity" is just fucking wrong.

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

That is how evil works 99% of the time. Not "Torturing puppies is fun!", but "As long as I benefit in some way, I don't care."

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's both. There are also a lot of instances where it's indeed just stupidity.

The case of Trump is so damn insane when you look at everything.

An adult man who is so emotionally fragile that he has to personally punish anyone who challenges him. He has to verbally abuse them, publicly shame them, threaten them financially and spiritually. And at the end of it, he absolutely has to claim personal victory in a very public way.

He will use any platform he can get to personally inflate his own ego, even going so far as to claim credit for things that happened.......

... while he was nowhere to the machinations of authority. He views potemkin displays as actual power instead of displays of fake power. He thinks the world loves him and absolutely cannot handle being told otherwise. He surrounds himself with layers of loyalty over all else because being loyal is more important than competent. Even if someone presents him with the truth, if he disagrees with the truth, they find themselves shamed by him. He has an obsession with dictatorial leaders and.......

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Publicly will display that obsession without a shred of irony as being the President of our nation. He will go out of his way to call my brothers and sister, sucker's and losers, while simultaneously fawning over people who use violence to suppress opposition. He proudly claims to be a great businessman but has a lifelong track record of being a nepo-baby who can't even keep a single business a float long enough to sell it successfully. And Americans eat this shit up. I cannot fathom the......

The sheer amount of stupidity and willful self-deprication it takes to come to view this man as a leader, let alone someone who should be trusted with our collective future. His willingness to put our lives on the line, while he publicly floats the idea to invade our allies of 80 fucking years, is beyond comprehension. He has couped the power of an entire political party. And this is just an offhand rant, this list is so fucking long and comprehensive that you could write a fucking novel....

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm tired. I want this to end. Our future is bleak and everyday, the prospects of our nation not tearing itself apart seem to drift further away. While politicians and pundits label fellow Americans as enemies of the state, and call for violence against us.

I'm so fucking tired.

In war, 2 things always happen: Young people who had nothing to do with starting the war die. And the rich get very much richer. That's all.

War is two old men who hate each other getting younger men who don’t know each other to kill each other

I thought this was just common knowledge?

1 year ago | Likes 199 Dislikes 3

The post that I was responding to was essentially saying that leaders need to learn that war doesn't solve disputes and that nobody wins in a war.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

If it were common knowledge, it wouldn't work.

It was common knowledge the Drumpf is a POS but that stop him from getting re-elected?

Ugh, I hate smarmy comments like this. You think it makes you look smart, but it actually means that a) You don't really understand the full weight of the idea or b) you do, but you chose to keep it to yourself selfishly.

The implications of this idea are quite devastating on a foundational level. Its far from common knowledge.

Common as in "77 million people didn't know it in 2024"

Sadly no. Any nationalist is going to see the war as a benefit. “MY way of life is being preserved.”

War is the continuation of politics by other means...doesn't need to be external politics

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I started reading 1984 recently (what… it’s been on my to do list for a while), and it’s a bit eerie not only how relevant it is, but also how uncomfortably easy to see that the future depicted there is one that would be a veritable wet dream for the MAGA cult.

To succeed the first country the fascist have to conquer is their own. The U.S. has been invaded by it's own government, there is an assault from some direction every day.
