Had a pretty feral black cat about 8 years ago. Guy didn't like pets. We got a siamese that was a fucking love bug - dude had a purr that you could hear from across the house. EVERYONE loved the siamese and showered him with pets. The feral black cat protected him outside from the neighborhood cats and learned that, while inside, pets were good. Black cat enjoyed the last of his days getting pets and learning to purr. Miss that chunky Boi AND my siamese.
I have wanted a black cat my entire life. In my experience they are just bundles of love and black because they contain so much love it warps light and space.
I named my Silhueta, it's just a black fluffy outline in whatever background in my apartment. Her brother I named Ascot because of the white little outline on his collar line and chest.
It was expensive saving them, money I couldn't afford, but worth it to me. They really are loving cats and I have missed affection.
That shelter employee didn't know what they were talking about, obviously, but doubly so because black cats are straight up the most affectionate animals I've ever had. Dogs got nothing on these guys
My black kitty Hazel is affectionate, but very rarely seeks it. She's very skittish and only usually comes out of hiding to eat. My grey cat Remy is a fuckin ham though. He's a pest for affection. Won't ever sit still unless I'm actively petting him.
Well and sometimes the shelter or whatever changes the way they behave. When you take them home their personality changes. Sometimes for the better and sometimes not.
Yup. I fostered my void's litter. It was her, an absolutely gorgeous and most affectionage Bengal-looking one, and a feral one. Not aggressive at all, but terrified of all humans (catching had gone bad and she wouldn't trust anyone). So of course we get plenty of calls for Bengal doll. One stands out: they'll also take the half feral sister. From the day they got them home, they couldn't tell which was the affectionate one and which the feral one; they were both loving as can be
By the time we got someone interested by the Void, I couldn't let her go. If you'd told me before her I'd love a short-haired black cat one day, I wouldn't have believed you

Zarya hates love, but she appreciates food and being inside, as well as sitting outside for 5 min at a time

Put your foot under that thin sheet, and you may find she's also capable of cutting you up. It's my favorite game with my derpy cat.

Sanity? Adherence to physics? Staying in only our reality? The little void is incapable of these things.

Nothing like walking into my bedroom when it's dark and greeting my cat, only to later notice it was actually a black shirt

Hello Shirt, nice to meet you.

that's a weird looking shirt.

My husband and I have an exclusively black wardrobe and bad laundry habits. We greet the washing and boots multiple times a day thinking it's the cat

I mean, let’s not turn this into a cats vs dogs thing. They’re different, but dogs in general are definitely more affectionate
Warmblood
Sample size +1. SIL got a black cat. It was by far the most cat affectionate in the shelter and has continued to be a lovely baby at home.
