Homeopathic natural cure-alls are snake oil. Snake oil is not a medical, physical, or chemical science, but marketing. Taking readily available components, up charging them, no production, overhead, licensing, or testing fees makes an environment of pure profit for multi level marketing suburban moms.

If they think that big pharma making them and government approving them makes the drugs bad, then home garage lab made and completely unregulated makes them good. It's logic. Stupid logic, but still logic.
FleaTron
This is the same as being obsessive about conspiracy theories. These people have convinced themselves that they have uncovered some great knowledge and the fact that they know it while most dont feeds their insecurities makes them feel as if they are more perceptive and intelligent than others and therefore superior to the "common person". If you can stomach fox news entertainment long enough, this is the exact brand of dopamine inducing bullshit they sell.

“The infectious disease expert said I should get this vaccination to protect myself from this incredibly deadly infectious disease. I think he’s full of shit because ‘taintlicker69420’ on Facebook and some guy that snorts cocaine off of public bathroom toilet seats told me I should take this horse de-wormer that will protect me better.”
eromitlab
It's the same logic as conspiracy theories. They think they've uncovered this secret information that "they" don't want everyone to know about.

Its a personality thing. My wife has this thing with food. I have everything she likes memorized (its not a long list); however, I have finally figured out that makes no difference. She needs to have picked it out herself in order to want to eat it. This is just that personality trait applied to medications.

It's a cult.
Not cult-like, cult-friendly or cult-adjacent.
A cult.
The reason they're acting like they won't think logically, the reason they believe directly contradictory things is because they have been brainwashed. Like 60 million people.
How do you deprogram 60 million people?

Big Pharma is a 1-2 trillion $ industry, alt med is 10-12 trillion $ industry. One gets to bypass all the hard work and go straight to podcasters, celebs.

GNC sells to idiots who would otherwise believe in the healing power of crystals
Dannoboyo
Not to be contrary, but I'm on statins, and they make me feel awful. Just list\en to all of the disclaimers on TV ads for drugs to solve your ills, and the potential for horrible side effects are real and potentially lethal. Some vitamins and supplements are well proven. Others no doubt are snake oil. But don't kid yourself that Big Pharm is your friend in all cases. Their job is to sell you treatments, not cures. Some would tell you American medicine lags behind other parts of the world.

Homeopathic medicine does exist. Certain willow barks can be made into a tea that reduces pain, because they have natural acetaminophen. The problem, as usual, is capitalists have flooded the zone with bullshit, so no one REALLY knows what actually works, and what is just another MLM with different branding...

Lookup homeopathic treatment and you will be see how absolutely ridiculous it is. I think it is a big thing in Germany if I remember correctly
thefrogyeti
Boiling willow bark to make a pain relief tea is not homeopathy my dude, it's herbal medicine. It's potentially it's own beast which I'm underqualified to discuss but homeopathy is much, much dumber.

That's not homeopathy or what OP is describing.
Also, willow bark contains salicin, which your body metabolizes into salicylic acid, not acetaminophen.

The argument I always give these folks is "if it worked, don't you think the evil, mega pharma companies would have a version they sell by now? Aspirin from bark worked, and look what we have now. GLP-1 was made from Girls Monster venom, annnnd look at it selling out. Nature had all sorts of medicine that works, and we don't know all of it yet... But if it DOES work, sure as shit it isn't only going to be known by some guy on YouTube.

Haha wow thanks autocorrect... *Gila-Monster
