This is literally like Game Of Thrones; while nations squabble over petty things due to the greed and retardedness of rulers (or over important things that should have been settled centuries ago but somehow still storm on us because we can't learn from history), disasters that don't care about any of that loom over us. All of them sparked by our actions (or inaction, depending on the point of view).
Choose a leader with the will to improve the world for everyone, not one that promises you two more coins in your pocket while the world dies.
