The reality is that military primers are MUCH harder than civilian primers (and are generally staked as well)... I recall a story about Lake City M80 7.62x51 having primers so hard they could only be fired out of the M14/FAL/G3 and M60/M240 (and they had to make heavier hammers for 308 ARs to be able to fire them).
Off on a tangent again... those LC M80 Ball rounds were designed to not detonate with free floating firing pins that might carry with the bolt (the M14 copied the M1 Garand free floating firing pin that could get carbon fouling and stick with the bolt when it chambered rounds and carry with the bolt during chambering (and acting like a low-cost open bolt SMG with a fixed firing pin... the hard primers would not detonate when hit).
The downside is that if you tried to use them in non-mil spec...

Over 99% of ammunition made is fired at paper targets and soda cans in a backyard (and pop-up targets on a range)....
I have fired thousands and thousands of rounds of ammunition, from rifles, pistols and belt-fed machine guns (M249, M60, M240, M2) and not a single one of those rounds ever came close to hitting another human being (tho, there was a live fire exercise where I had to put suppressing fire down very close to friendly troops downrange).
My memory of the M249 is its charging handle trying to poke my kidney out.... the M60 earned its nickname... I only fired an M240C from a coax on a Bradley (I just saw rounds hitting thru the thermals)... the most entertaining is the M2 cuz it is 100 year old design that just fucking works.
The M249 was the most accurate and the easiest to control... and when you do a box dump of 200 rounds you can find out what its like to have an E7 bash you in the head with a cleaning rod.

Not quite. These are centrefire cartridges, which means they are triggered by an impact to the primer in the centre of the base of the cartridge. The wiggle means that when the tip of the cartridge hits the one below it is always on the rim, meaning it can't accidentally trigger the primer and make a bad boom.
If you looked at the production line of a rimfire cartridge (e.g. .22 LR) it would look different.
It depends. Normally it should be safe, but if some particular primer is too sensitive (chemicals can be tricky), it can be possibly set off even by smaller impact. I *did* hear story about accidental discharge caused by manually closing bolt carrier into forward position in gun with removed firing pin. The thing is, even if it's one in million chance, ammo *is* manufactured by millions and possible consequences pretty dire.
Guarantee you there's not a single human anywhere near the finished product, until it's in the plastic trays and boxed. No corporation would ever risk the insane lawsuits that would generate if even one bullet misfired.
Maybe you should check some videos from technologically less advanced manufacturers. But even late tech equipped manufacturers are often including human factor (typically in quality control, supervision and packaging). Still, I dont quite see your point, it has nothing to do with anything I wrote above.
