I Etch A Sketched in Myrtle Beach! Here's how it went

On June 26th I went on a quick trip to Myrtle Beach to make some fun Etch A Sketch portraits for Ripley's Believe it or Not! Guests had an opportunity to walk away with a fun souvenir photo, and I had an opportunity to meet tourists and locals from all over the US.

Call me Ruby Rhod, because the weather was hot, hot, HOT! Thankfully I was probably a reptile in a former life so it wasn't so bad, and Ripley's was great about keeping an ongoing supply of ice cold bottled waters.

While at work I rarely have a chance to snap photos of happy guests with their finished art, so I had to be quick when I snapped this shot! Margie and the rest of the team at Ripley's Myrtle Beach were great.

For this trip I offered my "Quick Pics" option, which is where I draw a guest's portrait in around 5 minutes, then hand off the drawing to my friend Grace who snaps a photo of the finished art and puts it into this nifty template Ripley's and I collaboratively designed for the experience. I also offer permanent Etch A Sketch portraits where I remove all that pesky excess aluminum powder in advance!

I heard rumors about this fabled ElectroSketch, so I had to pay my respects with the correct amount of Wonder and Awe. This is my 2001 obelisk. Yes I asked them how I can get one.

I am THRILLED to say that the ElectroSketch works like a DREAM. I was half expecting it to feel off, but they really outdid themselves on capturing the Etch A Sketch feel. I'm blown away and want 12 please!

Obligatory Back to the Future photo op! It's in my top 3 films (the other 2 being The Big Lebowski and The Sound of Music) so I was quite pleased to hop on the hoverboard.

I was hoping to share a buncha video footage from this trip, but I'm actually about to head back on the road again for Ripley's in Gatlinburg! You can catch me this Friday from 11am-3pm at the Ripley's Aquarium, or 11am-4pm on Saturday (Etch A Sketch day!!!) at the Believe it or Not! location!
