Always be critique'n, I guess is the message? Which is fair. Any information presented to us is an ad for something, somehow, be it for a product or just to support the police and military and shit. Ads shape perception, perception shapes reality.

Not all information given is an ad in some capacity.

Nah the message is just explaining Marxist Critical Theory.

I had this chat with a family member. I said question everything, they said they were unequivocally correct. I asked how they could know. They said they just did. We are at an impasse :(

It may seem like you're at an impasse, but keep asking them questions about their contradictory values anyhow and they will slowly change.

Challenge everything they say if they say they just know. Then you can say something like that's nice for you But that's absolutely not convincing. You can probably mathematically prove that they're wrong. But that's not going to convince them to change their mind.

Introduction to Critical Theory for the 21st Century, by Nathan Dufour. I'll admit, it's entertaining, though a 5 minute long rap is probably not the best format for philosophy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7stVZPGxIw

It is entertaining if you understand what he is talking about though.

The Greeks made due with shadow puppets and naked chickens. A Rap's as valid as any other format, imo.

What is philosophy? Functionally speaking, I thought it was designed to get you thinking and seeking answers, which this rap achieves. Does it matter what form it takes if it succeeds in its intended purpose? :)

Functionally speaking, The functions of a beaker and a bucket are both to hold liquid. But one is a lot more precise in its ability to do so. I agree that, in a certain sense, everything is philosophy. But in a more rigid sense, the precision and accuracy of a given example is up for critical debate. In this case, I think pointing out the limitations of a five minute rap qualifies as a legitimate critique. But again, anything that gets us thinking is aces in my book.

Based on my understanding, Philosophy is how we decide what matters.

The fun thing is, there’s no governing body to fix a definition so what qualifies as “philosophy “ gets a little wobbly.

I mean, by definition it simply means "love of wisdom", and I don't think a governing body would be appropriate for that 😂
