My dissertation is feeling impossible right now. Using memes to cope.

#38 I know it's been enough Internet for the day, when I have to read the sentence three times to figure out it's probably his actual daughter speaking...

#20 the long i’s make it easier to read the complaint in Kelsey Grammar’s voice

#1 ... and I'm broke n' hungry, so give me better than minimum wage for that degree of education...

Best I can do is McDonald's. Part time.

#11 "Less than points to the left hand" learned in 6th grade and haven't stopped using it an Astrophysics degree later.

#35 yeah, if I'm going to go to hell already, I'm going to go ahead and kill myself. (burnt out former academic fuck grammar Nazis)

#13 I had a friend in high school who decided to become an aerospace engineer just so he could say that whatever he is doing really does take a rocket scientist.

#21 hits too close to home...

#2 I got an economics degree. I of course immediately went into HVAC repair for 5 years and now I'm a professional furry.

#49 The "40 M" to the bridge hits differently if you're an American. I'd swim across if the nearest bridge was 40 miles away.

A coworker of mine with a PhD told me it stood for "Permanent head Damage"

Unpopular post here, but you can just change your name to "the doctor" and skip the PhD.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Or get the PhD anyway, and change your last name to Doctor, so you'll be Dr. Doctor.

#2 is a high altitude scuba diver. Basically climbing mountains to scuba dive in mountain lakes.

This one is particularly personally enjoyable for me because my research involves both diving and digging on land. I get the context, but the visual is a good heuristic for my field work.

#14 ooooh he might be me

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, I get it. Making it difficult is part of the point, and honestly it ruined academia for me. I moved to biotech and haven't looked back.

#29 but did she call them again, is the real question

While I do not have PhD, I did marry a woman the year before she started her DMA. Seeing her experiences made me seriously reconsider if I ever wanted to pursue any doctorate.

I think it’s highly dependent on your field of study and program. I’m two days away from being done with my PhD and my experience wasn’t like the stereotypical stuff

You a doctor yet?

What’s your field of study? Also congrats regardless if it’s stereotypical or not getting a PHD is a massive accomplishment!

Thanks! It’s Nursing

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Damn how long do you have to breastfeed to get a PhD?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just shy of 6 years because I’m a late bloomer

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now I'm curious: Are you going to work in or with hospitals? Help develop nursing training programs? What's the goal?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I currently work in clinical research but my nerd passion is improving healthcare services and utilization of said services for incarcerated patients. I’d like to work with both carceral facilities/systems and hospitals to fix the way they provide care and make it evidence-based

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I am so sorry to hear that! Committee problems are way too common and no joke. I hope your post doc is accommodating and that I get to call you Dr. really soon!
