its "gave her a UTI" in the sense that he should have been cleaner. Could she have done things to prevent it? Probably. Is it reasonable to expect people to do a complete hazmat procedure after sex with their long term partner? Not really. The expectation that your partner will keep themselves at least reasonably clean is there.
