I moved out when I was 16. At age 18 I rented the basement of a house that was rented by 6 other people. It was actually a very hard time in life. I was washing dishes for a bar and had zero family. I was fucked.

Joking aside I’m hoping you are better now and made it out of that situation. I didn’t always have it easy but I feel fortunate I always had a roof over my head so far in my life.

Oh. Im good. And thanks for caring. I really mean that. My family just sort of... crapped out when I was 16 and I suddenly didnt have a support system. I learned a lot. I am street smart, I have EQ like a motherfucker. I also have a tiny bit of lingering trauma. But I balance it out with time with my kids and constantly pushing myself to become a better chef, I never want anyone to be hungry like I was. It turned out well in the end. I just had a slow start, took a good 10 years to catch up.

I’m glad to hear that. I know that can lead people down a bad path that’s hard to recover from. I have a coworker who was basically on her own at 13. I’m also glad you have a passion and something to better yourself with. I think that’s important for everyone to have.
