View from my office, with some info/history thrown in

Dec 8, 2021 12:37 AM

The majestic 191 Peachtree Tower. Yes, on Peachtree Street. THE Peachtree out of all the other countless Peachtree-named roads in Atlanta. The small columned looking building is a parking deck.

The round building is the Westin Peachtree Plaza. It has the Sundial Restaurant at the very top that slowly revolves, giving diners a 360 degree view of the city.

The building being illuminated by the sun used to be the Winecoff Hotel. On this date, December 7, 1946, the Winecoff was the site of the deadliest hotel fire in American history.

Info about the fire for anyone interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winecoff_Hotel_fire

The building to the left of the view in #3 had it's top floor removed because of MARTA underneath it.

I am sad the sundial isn’t functioning, wanted to take the Grands. Is the external glass elevator still a thing?

Yes, the elevator is still just as terrifying
