I used to hate on Tom Cruise in his early pretty boy movie star phase, but at some point he started to win me over with choices that showed some range and talent. He's truly good in magnolia, and chilling in collateral. All the more so when you read that he actually prepared for that movie, growing stubble, wearing a delivery driver shirt and cap, and spent three days randomly hanging out in various places striking up conversations with people. No one recognized him
I don't like him either, but I think most of the MI movies are really good. So, I hold my nose and enjoy them. Unfortunately, I can't do the same for Mel Gibson flics.
Anyone remember that show about a British comedian, and she sprints clear across town to eat her girlfriend's pussy, and she arrives all out of breath. "Did you run here?!" "Yeah! I ran all the way here! I ran like Tom Cruise!"
I want to watch them for the other actors, several of whom I like, but.. Tom Cruise would be on the screen far too much for me to be able to enjoy the movies.
I don't like the dude... but, fuck. He makes good movies. Top Gun, Days of Thunder, A Few Good Men, Rainman, and the Mission Impossible movies all rule.
Moxmox
dude look like rick astley
imnotinthewitnessprotectionprogram
TankTrain
Every time I see Tom Cruise in a sci-fy movie, I always wonder if he knows that it's not real.
ironymus
I wish this would happen for real

."....it's just a scratch"
cytherians
"I've had worse!"
FireSolvesProblems
I admit I respect his insane dedication & I'm using insane almost literally.
Lewskannon
War of the Worlds was his best comedy!
BeachsideBarghest
Kinda wish he would throw himself off a roof tbh

"I was tied to a chair. He had a baseball bat. Insulting him seemed like the smart thing to do." (Max Payne)
madmax17
Some epic lines.
Quizz25S
loved 1 and 2
WiiShaker
Same. Max Payne and the Fall of Max Payne were great. Max Payne 3 was a great game but it didn't have that classic noir theming.
JimmyWalkerTexasRanger
This is almost as stupid as the reality.
Almost. https://media1.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1MXVzb3o2NmxqMW9hZ3lwZ2I5aXcyM3FhYXUybTlsNzkyMmw5a2hqeCZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/0MHgWp8xxjdd0TW0n6/200w.webp
Isthe4thtimethecharm
At least if this is how it was I could understand how he thinks his job is just as bad as someone serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Clayman8
Yeah. Cause in the reality they dont even bother cutting, they just let him do it.
Moonthatspellsmoon
But still nowhere near as stupid as Scientology
madmax17
Is it dying, pls.
mrsdowneyjr
Iirc, he fired the stunt coordinator who said the stunt was unsafe so, yeah, he's like this
madmax17
Mofo was just doing his job.

fknbastard
Listen. He does what he does. Don’t go chasing waterfalls over it.
FeloniousMonk13
I like action movies as much as the next guy, but I have watched NONE of the mission impossible movies simply cause I can't fuckin stand tom cruise

Nothing of value was missed.
ThrowAwayAcct0000
The first one was good, back when I was in high school, 30 years ago.
Eldibs
Edge of Tomorrow, bruh. You can watch him get shot in the face repeatedly.
toshach33
I don't like him either, but I think most of the MI movies are really good. So, I hold my nose and enjoy them. Unfortunately, I can't do the same for Mel Gibson flics.
TacoPoweredHelicopter
Same, I don't like him as a person and I gate his acting. I avoid anything with him in it as I know I will hate it.
MissChickle
I loved him in Interview with the Vampire
madmax17
Great job there.

FelonyRaptor
Same here. Also, no top guns for me.
genericanamoly
I just watch edge of tomorrow to see him die like 100 times in stupid ways.
madmax17
Oh great movie, Japanese manga.
UWAGAGABLAGABLAGABA
That's the main reason i love that movie, too! It's great
Rijacki
I want to watch them for the other actors, several of whom I like, but.. Tom Cruise would be on the screen far too much for me to be able to enjoy the movies.

Minority report is one of my favorites. And last samurai.
madmax17
First one is classic.
thebonesofmyancestors
I will say this, Philip Seymour Hoffman was definitely the best part of MI3.
bladderinfection
Brian DePalma - fuck yes. Next few were typical sequels. After that (gestures vaguely) action happens, whatever, don’t care.
somecallmetimmmmkay
Cavill did give us that one moment though, ya know the one lol
manwithsevenlivers
Is that when he kicked the helmet and broke his toe?
jtwood
Aww they’re actually mostly pretty good
But the last one was just a him sucking his own dick
grandfalloon
At his age? That is some impressive flexibility!
Wraid
cuzitsthere
And the new Top Gun is him sucking Pierre Sprey's dick!
JackIsLacking
Ok, but was that him, or a stunt double....
sacrosanctt
He's Tom Cruise, need in Scientology, AND HE DOES HIS OWN STUNTS
